Coffeyville and Cherryvale PD Receive Grants

The Coffeyville Police Department and the Cherryvale Police Department have been awarded grants for equipment upgrades. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says Coffeyville PD will receive $44,990 to update suspect transport safety gear, in-car video camera systems and evidence collection equipment and Cherryvale PD will receive $45,306 to purchase computer hardware and equipment. Schmidt says one of the keys to keeping the communities safe in the 21st Century is making sure law enforcement officers have 21st Century technology. These grants will provide opportunities for local authorities to make these upgrades.

The grants are part of the Federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program and was awarded by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
