Field Kindley completes sweep of Bullpups

With baseball and softball seasons near an end it makes each game more an more valuable as the weeks pass. Field Kindley High School traveled over to Caney Valley High School to play the Bullpups last night for both softball and baseball. We’ll start with softball as the Lady Nado started their day off with a high scoring back n forth battle for game won but still pushing past CVHS 13-11. Then in game two the bats still were alive but fatigue set in making the score a bit lower but Field Kindley finishes off the 2 game sweep winning 10 -6 in game two. Baseball also was underway between these two schools yesterday. The Golden Tornado the clear underdog having to travel down to Caney, but they sure didn’t play like it. Getting a great defensive performance in game one was the Golden Tornado putting down the Bullpups by a score of 6-1. Game two a similar performance on defense for Field Kindley as they only allow 3 runs but the bats explode for the Golden Tornado scoring 15 runs as they win 15 to 3. Field Kindley softball and baseball travel to Caney and complete the complete sweep of the Bullpups. Both teams will wait till the 27th to play again as Caney battles Sedan at home, and Field Kindley hosts Ft. Scott, first pitch 4:30

Bullpups Competitive in all Spring Sports

Successful fall and winter sports seasons have turned into successful spring sports at Caney Valley schools. Superintendent Blake Vargas says they are looking at bringing home a couple of titles in boy's and girl's track and field. He says the baseball team has been really competitive and the softball team has exceeded expectations and is riding a hot streak right now. The Bullpups are definitely a team that no one should underestimate no matter what sport they are competing in.

Vargas says they will be adding a junior high cross country component for next year, which will only help the track team come time for that season.

Heading into the final week of the regular season it's been a roller coaster for the Coffeyville Red Raven baseball team. Head Coach Jake Martin says "we've battled a lot of adversity due to weather, but our team has exceeded with each test. We've had great contributions from our sophomores catcher Brett Mitchell, pitcher Gavin Heltemes, and center fielder Antonio Culotta. We've also had some freshmen step up which has helped the progression of our program. Outfielder Blake Carroll, first baseman Jorge Ortiz, pitchers Aaron Bechtel and Quintin Romero. Heading into last week of regular season we are tied for third place in conference and momentum is on our side."

The Ravens are currently on a stretch were they've won 12 of their last 16 games. With six games left on their schedule Assistant Head Coach Stephen McNett says “this year has been an amazing experience for me. Working with these young men on and off the field and seeing their accomplishments has been exciting. Coaching with Jake Martin has been great and working with him on and off the field has been a fun experience. We have a bunch of guys that are hungry to work and to win, which fits into our motto 'Work Wins'. Going into final stretch of season is going to be exciting.”
