Sedan Ends Season With Loss to Argonia-Attica

It was a close contest, but for the second straight season Sedan has seen its year come to its end at the hands of Argonia-Attica following a 38-32 contest on Halloween night.

The Blue Devils struck first and at one point led 16-14, but several turnovers proved costly, including a late first-half interception that allowed the Titans to put themselves up by 10 points heading into the locker room at the half.

The two-score lead would be maintained throughout most of the second-half, with Sedan playing catch-up while the Argonia-Attica backfield ran wild. A hail mary from Tayte Halderman to Dameion Hatten and subsquent pitch to Eli Campbell would put the Blue Devils within 6 with just a minute to play, but the Titans would field the ensuing onside kick, allowing themselves to take a knee and secure the victory.

The Blue Devils end their 2019 campaign at 5-4. Argonia-Attica improves to 5-4 and will take on South Central-Coldwater in a rematch of the last week of the regular season. The Timberwolves won that contest 17-0, and defeated West Elk 47-0 in the first round of the playoffs.

Sedan Ready For Halloween Matchup

A cold, crisp Halloween night will set the stage for the first round of the Kansas 8-man football playoffs as Sedan hosts Argonia-Attica tonight. The Blue Devils lost 30-26 to another playoff team in West Elk last week, but their spirits remain high for this week's contest against the 4-4 Titans.

Head coach Mick Holt says shutting down the Titans' backfield will be crucial to picking up the victory.

To do that, Holt says the team will need to remain focused on their own jobs rather than the flashiness of the oppossing offense.

Sedan vs. Argonia-Attica will kick off at 7:00 p.m. tonight. The game will be broadcast as our Game of the Week on the Mighty 690, KGGF. Connor Harbit, as always, will have the call.

Caney Valley Heads North To Begin Playoffs

The Caney Valley Bullpups begin their playoff path on the road by heading north to La Cygne where they will take on the Prairie View Buffalos.

The Buffalos won District 3A-2 with a perfect 5-0 record and 8-0 over all. While the Bullpups are the underdog, Caney Valley coach Criss Davis sees this matchup as a positive.

The kickoff for Friday's game is set for 7pm while pre-game begins at 6:50 on 104.1 Greatest Hits KGGF. Kyle Hey and Ty Loftis will be on the call.

Montgomery County Teams Gearing Up For Playoffs

The regular season of the high school football season ended on Friday night and all four Montgomery County teams will continue their seasons as the playoffs kick off this weekend.

In Class 4A, Field Kindley will head to Augusta while Independence takes to the road as well to battle Mulvane. You can hear the Field Kindley game on KQQF Star 98.9 at 7pm. Matt Jordan will be on the call.

In Class 3A, Caney Valley heads north to take on undefeated Prairie View. That game will be heard on 104.1 KGGF with Kyle Hey and Ty Loftis on the call.

Lastly, Cherryvale will match up with Conway Springs in the Class 2A playoffs. All games are scheduled to kick off at 7pm.

West Elk and Sedan Preparing for 8-Man Playoffs

After a thrilling contest on Friday, both Sedan and West Elk will look toward the 8-man DI State Football playoffs starting this week. Sedan has received a home game after its 3rd place district finish and will host Attica/Argonia. The Titans are 4-4 this season and are coming off a 4th place district finish.

West Elk will have an uphill battle ahead of them, as they will look to unseat an undefeated Coldwater-South Central squad. The Timberwolves are 8-0 and have allowed just 26 points to opposing teams this season.

We will talk with both Sedan's Mick Holt and West Elk's Chris Haag about their  as part of our Coach's Corner. You can hear the interviews on KGGF, 690AM throughout the week, or find them under the Sports tab on kggfradio.com.

Nado Travel to Augusta for Playoffs

After last nights 33-13 loss against Christ Prep Academy, Field Kindley fell back to the 10 spot on the West side of Class 4A. They will head on the road for the first round of the playoffs as they travel to Augusta.

The Orioles are 4-4 on the season and have won two in a row.

West Elk Defeats Sedan in Wild Contest

The last regular season Game of the Week more than delivered, with West Elk overcoming Sedan 30-26 on Friday.

The first half didn't see much action, with the Patriots leading 14-0 over the Blue Devils after picking up a touchdown in each quarter. After the break, the game would get a lot more interesting, with Sedan rattling off three straight touchdowns with an offense revitalized by quarterback Dameion Hatten. With the Blue Devils up 20-14, West Elk would finally get things going again with a 27-yard touchdown run by senior running back Nic Moreno to put the Patriots back on top 22-20.

However, with Sedan facing a 4th and 10 from the 25-yard line and just a couple minutes remaining, replacement quarterback Tayte Halderman threw two consecutive completions to move the score to 26-22. But despite taking the advantage, Sedan would not be able to stop Moreno from making one last 51-yard dash to the endzone to put the dagger into the game at 30-22.

Following the results of Friday's game, both West Elk and Sedan have made the playoffs. Stay tuned for more information about opponents for both teams.

Caney Valley Rolls Baxter Springs 43-0

The Caney Valley Bullpups made quick work of the Baxter Springs Lions on Friday night by a score of 43-0.

Caney Valley Running Back Eryk Kyser rushed for over 150 yards and 2 touchdowns with a highlight 98 yard touchdown run in the first quarter where he streaked down the sideline running away from the Lions defenders.

Bullpup Running Back Ben Nunneley rushed for over 100 yards and capped off his night with a 64-yard touchdown run.

The second half of the game was played with a running clock and resulted in the shortest game of the year for the Bullpups that started at 7:00pm and ended at 8:40pm.

The win clinched a playoff spot for the Bullpups where they will face the Prairie View Buffaloes on Friday in Lacygne.

KU Basketball Wins in Exhibition Matchup

College basketball is back. The #3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team took to the court for its first exhibition game on Thursday, defeating Fort Hays State 86-56. The Jayhawks were led by Ochai Agbaji who picked up 21 points. Other KU players in double figures included Marcus Garrett with 15 and Silvio De Sousa with 11.

The Jayhawks will have one more exhibition matchup before the official start of the regular season. That contest will pit the team against Pittsburg State, scheduled for next Thursday at Allen Fieldhouse.

ICC Has Two POTW

Coming off a big win against rival Coffeyville, Independence Community College saw two players get named Jayhawk Conference Players of the Week. Offensive Player of the Week WR Nathaniel Dell caught five passes for 216 yards with two touchdowns averaging 41.2 yards per reception. Special Teams Player of the Week Jalin Troutman was perfect on the night as he went 8 for 8 on extra points and hit two field goals of 31 and 25 yards.

ICC is looking for their first back to back wins of the season as they head on the road to face Iowa Central for an afternoon game.

CCC Heads to Garden City

Coming off a disappointing loss to rival Independence, Coffeyville Community College heads on the road to face Garden City. The Broncbusters are 6-2 and coming off a big 37-7 victory over Highland. With Hutch and Butler still left on Garden City's schedule and only one loss in the Jayhawk conference they control their own destiny to win the Jayhawk Conference title. The Red Ravens look to play the role of spoiler this week and ruin the Broncbusters chances at the Jayhawk crown.

Afternoon game tomorrow with kick off at 1:00 on US 98.1 KUSN.

A Chance to Host Up fro Grabs

Heading into the final game of the regular season Field Kindley finds themselves in a interesting position when it comes to the playoffs. They currently sit at the 8th spot on the west side of class 4A. A win tonight doesn't guarantee a top 8 spot but it would certainly help. The west side of Class 4A currently has 6 teams with a record of 2-5 and with Coffeyville's -22 point differential that has them at the top of those teams. A loss in tonight's matchup against 7-1 Christ Prep Academy could see the Nado fall down to the 14 spot in the standings, but a win would keep them in good position to host a first round playoff game.

Kickoff for tonight game is at 7:00 and can be heard on Star 98.9 KQQF.

Bullpups In With A Win

The Caney Valley Bullpups can secure their spot in the playoffs with a win on the road against winless Baxter Springs on Friday night.

The Bullpups currently sit in the 4th place spot in district 3A-1 just ahead of Parsons and Baxter Springs. Caney Valley can still secure a playoff spot with a loss if Gelena beats Parsons as Caney Valley owns the tie breaker.

If Caney Valley were to make the playoffs, they would be on the road the first week either at Prairie View. You can listen to Friday's game on 104.1 Greatest Hits KGGF with Kyle Hey and Ty Loftis on the call.

Sedan and West Elk Square Off For Week 8

West Elk will host Sedan this Friday for our final regular season Game of the Week. The Patriots come into the contest at 3-4 and perhaps suffered their most dissapointing loss last week to a previously winless Flinthills squad. Head coach Chris Haag is not worried that there'll be any lingering effects from last week, and says his boys are ready to get back to action.

Sedan is currently 5-2 and coming off a closer-than-usual 50-48 win over Central Burden. Head coach Mick Holt said his team is a little banged up, but they'll be ok come Friday.

As always, our Game of the Week can be heard on the Mighty 690, KGGF. Pregame will start at 6:50, with Connor Harbit calling the opening kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

ICC Wins the Battle for Montgomery County

An offensive explosion for Independence Community College leads them to a dominating win over Coffeyville Community College. The Pirates put up 62 points on the Red Ravens and so multiple big plays both on offense and special teams and they got it started with at 78 yard punt return. Coffeyville came alive in the second half but it was too little too late as they fall 62-23. The Ravens saw three different players at QB with Edwin Kleinpeter Jr having the best game with three rushing touchdowns.

The Red Ravens head on the road next week to take on Garden City.

Bullpups Run Wild Over Vikings

The Caney Valley Bullpups literally ran wild on Friday night as they defeated the Parsons Vikings 48-34. The Bullpups rolled up 455 yards of total offense with all of it coming via the ground attack.

Bullpups running back Eryk Kyser rushed for 328 yards and 6 touchdowns to pace the Bullpups attack while Ben Nunneley racked up 114 yards.

Parsons quarterback Ethan Houk rushed for 123 yards and went 12-26 for 228 yards in the air and threw for 4 touchdowns in the losing effort.

With the win Caney Valley moved up to 4th place in district 3A-1 due to district points. Caney Valley can advance to the playoffs with a win over Baxter Springs by at least 9 points or a Parsons loss to Galena.

Nado Lose Close One on the Road

Coffeyville drops a close one 14-13 against Chanute.  The Nado got the game started quickly scoring on their second play of the game.  They would hold that 7-0 lead until about 4 minutes left in the third quarter where a controversial no safety call eventually leads to an interception and a game tying touchdown by Chanute.  Chanute would take a 14-7 lead with two minutes left in the game after a fake punt goes 65 yards for a touchdown.  The Nado would answer scoring a touchdown with 40 seconds, but chose to go for two and the win and couldn't get it.  The Comets recovered the onside kick and get the victory.

The Nado now 2-5 have Christ Prep Academy next week and still have a chance to sneak into the top 8 and host a first round playoff game.

Cherryvale Claims Victory Over Neodesha

Cherryvale can claim victory over one of their biggest rivals for yet another season, as the Chargers took down Neodesha 49-16 on Friday night.

The game didn't get out of hand until the second quarter, with the Blue Streaks actually leading Cherryvale 14-13 after the first quarter following a last second, 65-yard touchdown run by Toby Curtis. However, mental mistakes would cost Neodesha dearly, giving Cherryvale possesion deep in Neodesha territory. Using that to their advantage, Cherryvale would head into the locker room at the half with a 35-14 lead.

The Chargers would pick up two more touchdowns in the second half, while Neodesha only found points through a botched snap that sent the ball sailing out of the endzone for a safety. With the win, Cherryvale improves to 4-3 on the season and will give the team some momentum into a tough matchup against Eureka. Neodesha falls to 1-6 on the season, and will meet rival Fredonia for their last regular season game.

We'll return to 8-man football for our final regular season Game of the Week, as Sedan hits the road to take on West Elk. Connor Harbit will have the call, as always, on the Mighty 690, KGGF.

Rivalry Week in Montgomery County

It's rivalry week in Montgomery County as Independence and Coffeyville prepare to face off tomorrow night. The Pirates come in with a record of 3-3 and the Red Ravens are 2-6 on the season. There's just a handful of games left on both teams' schedules and each one is fighting for different things. For Independence with just two losses in the Jayhawk Conference winning out could mean a shot at the shared or outright Conference Championship. For CCC they are playing for pride beating a rival in the midst of a disappointing season always feels great.

Kick off is tomorrow night at 7:00pm with pregame at 6:50 on US 98.1 KUSN.

Nado Fighting to Host Playoffs

Two games left in the regular season for Kansas high school football and despite their 2-4 record Field Kindley sits just one game out from hosting the first round of the playoffs. Coming off the win against Abilene Coach Darrin Wegner says he was impressed with his defense.

Wins against Chanute tonight and Christ Prep Academy next week will all but lock up a top eight spot and have the Nado hosting the first round.

Mahomes Expected To Be Out For 3-6 Weeks

The Kansas City Chiefs received some good news regarding Patrick Mahomes' knee injury. It was reported Friday that an MRI confirmed Mahomes suffered a dislocated kneecap, but not significant additional damage.

Mahomes suffered a dislocated knee during the Chiefs game against the Broncos Thursday night. Mahomes’ knee cap had to be set back into place on the field by trainers.

Mahomes is expected to miss 3-6 with the injury. The Chiefs ended up winning the game 30-6 to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Cherryvale and Neodesha Meet For GOW

It's a rivalry game tonight in Neodesha as the Blue Streaks play host to Cherryvale in the Game of the Week. Neodesha is 1-5 this season and coming off of a 45-0 loss to Eureka. Cherryvale is 3-3 and shut out Douglass 29-0 last week.

Cherryvale head coach Harry Hester says you can toss out any previous games or records when these two teams meet. Similarly, Neodesha head coach David Gillet said he thinks the rivarly against the Chargers is just as imporant, if not more, than another common rival

This rivalry matchup will be our Game of the Week and can be heard on the Mighty 690, KGGF. Connor Harbit and Trey Stumpff will have the call, with pregame starting at about 6:50 p.m. and kickoff at 7.

CCC Holding Baseball Hitting Camp

Coffeyville Community College will be holding a baseball hitting camp for kids with the assistance of Red Ravens players and coaches. CCC head coach Jake Martin and assistant coaches Tyler Moore and Ryan McCourt will be running the camp. There will be a group for kids 12 and under, and and a seperate group for kids 18 and under. The plan is currently for the camp to run four sessions, starting on November 9th and then running through December 7th.

Fredonia Fighting for Playoff Spot

A tight race for the playoffs in Class 2A District 5. Belle Plaine and Eureka sit at the top at 3-0 and Cherryvale, Fredonia and Neodesha are tied at 1-2. The Yellowjackets were close to pulling off the upset against Belle Plain. Coach Marc Svaty says they were disappointed in the outcome.

With a win this Friday the Yellowjackets could control their own destiny for their playoff push.

Bullpups in Must Win Situation

Even with the Caney Valley Bullpups are coming off a week where they lost to Frontenac 34-6, lost starting quarterback Trey Richey to injury and sit near the bottom of the Class 3A-1 district standings, coach Criss Davis was upbeat this week as his team prepares to travel to Parsons this Friday with a lot on the line.

A loss to the Vikings this week eliminates the Bullpups from playoff contention. Game time is scheduled for 7:00PM Kyle Hey and Ty Loftis will have the call on Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF.

CCC Football Hosting Military Appreciation Night

Coffeyville Community College will host a Military Appreciation Night on Saturday prior to the football team's game against Independence. The Ravens breezed through the first two sets fairly easily but struggled midway through the 3rd set with Allen leading 16-15 at one point before Coffeyville outscored the Red Devils down the stretch 10-4.

Match two of a 3-match homestand will be Wednesday night as #5 Cowley Community College comes to town in a clash of top 5 teams. Match time is scheduled for 6:30PM.

CCC Volleyball At Home This Week

The Coffeyville Community College volleyball team will stay at home this week for two matches as they look to continue their latest streak of dominant play.

The #2-ranked Red Ravens will first play tonight against Allen County. The Red Devils are 17-10 and are on an extensive six match winning streak. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Later this week, the Red Ravens will face a stiff opponent in Cowley County. The Tigers are the #5 team in the country and are 29-2 this year. Wednesday's matchup against Cowley will be a themed game, where fans are encouraged to "drown" the Tigers in a "Sea of Red". Once again, that match will start at 6:30 pm.m

CCC is 31-2 this season, and have won their last five matches while dropping just one set.

Blue Dragons Thump Red Ravens

While Coffeyville was able to move the ball on Saturday afternoon, not cashing in on scoring chances doomed the Red Ravens as they fell to Hutchinson 49-7.

Red Ravens quarterback Aubrey Williams went 13-23 for 126 yards and tossed a toucdown pass in the losing effort while Marco Lee led the rushing attack by carrying the ball 13 times for 72 yards.

Hutchinson was able to rush the ball for over 300 yards with Erin Collins picking up 100 yards and touchdown for the victorius Blue Dragons.

The Red Ravens return home next week as they host Montgomery Country rival Independence Community College at 7pm.  Pregame starts on at 6:50PM on KUSN 98.1.

Nado Earn Second Victory of Season

Field Kindley made the road trip worth it coming away with a 28-12 victory over Abilene.  The Nado offense came out firing on the first drive with a steady running attack and getting the quick lead 7-0.  The offense would stall for the rest of the half and head into the locker room at the half leading 7-6.  Heavy dose of the run game and quick screens would be the recipe for success in the second half eventually pulling away with the victory 28-12.

The Nado are now 2-5 on the season and will get ready for a matchup with Chanute.

Frontenac Throttles Caney Valley

Frontenac came out scored early and never looked back as the Raiders beat the Caney Valley Bullpups 34-6 in a chippy district match-up on Friday night.

With Frontenac leading 7-0 near the start of the 3rd quarter, a fight broke out on the field that resulted in multiple ejections for both teams and Frontenac then took control of the game at that point and ripped off 14 straight points to take a 21-0 that included a 96-yard touchdown run from Alex Johnson.

Caney Valley quarterback Trey Richey was knocked out of the ballgame with an unspecified hand injury and his availity for next week is to be determined.

With the loss, Caney Valley drops to 3-3 overall on the season and 0-3 in district play.

The Bullpups travel to Parsons next week in a crucial district matchup that could decide the 4th playoff spot in District 3A-1.

Sedan Routs Flinthills in GOW

It was a short and successful night for Sedan. The Blue Devils easily handled Flinthills on Friday night, capping off homecoming week with a 54-8 mercy rule victory over the Mustangs.

After the first quarter came to a conclusion, the score stood at just 16-8, but Sedan would put on the boosters in the second quarter, scoring 5 touchdowns on drives that often took just one or two plays. Flinthill's lone touchdown came on their first drive of the game on a 28-yard touchdown run from Brandon Gleason.

Sedan improves to 4-2 on the season and will look to make it a winning streak next week against Central Burden. Flinthills falls to 0-6 and will host West Elk for their Week 7 matchup.

We'll return to 11-man football in next week's Game of the Week. Neodesha hosts Cherryvale on the Mighty 690, KGGF.

CCC Heads on the Road to Face Top 5 Team

Coffeyville Community College heads on the road for an noon matchup against the number four team in the country. Hutchinson is coming off their first loss of the season to Highland and saw themselves fall from number one to number four and they'll be looking to get back in the win column as they host the Red Ravens tomorrow.

For the Ravens their biggest issue continues to be the quarterback postilion. Three players have over 60 passing attempts. Aubrey Williams has the highest completion percentage at 58% but has more interceptions than touchdowns. The other two QBs are Edwin Kleinpeter Jr and Cam Smith who both have under 45% completion percentage. Cam Smith has got the last two starts and we will see tomorrow who gets the majority of the snaps. Whoever it is under center their gonna need a good game and help from the run game and defense to beat Hutch. Kick off is at 12:00pm tomorrow on KUSN 98.1.

Nado Head on the Road to Face Winless Team

A road trip coming up tomorrow for Field Kindley. The Golden Tornado will head to Abilene tomorrow morning to take on the Cowboys. Head Coach Darrin Wegner says they're prepared for the drive.

Coach Wegner says as far the game goes it comes down to stopping the run and getting off the field on third and fourth down. Abilene gotta the better of the Nado in their matchup last year largely in part to two long conversions of third and fourth down. Tune in tomorrow on Star 98.9 KQQF kickoff is at 7:00pm.

Indy Heads to Missouri for Friday Night Lights

The Independence Bulldogs head into their week 6 matchup against Center trying to avoid three losses in a row. The Bulldogs have played a lot of close games this season with their average point differential being just over nine points. It won't get any easier for them this week as they head to Missouri for their matchup against the Center Yellowjackets. Center comes in to this game with a 5-1 record and an average margin of victory of 29 points.

The Bulldogs will need to be able to run the ball and control the clock on offense and force Center in to making some mistakes on defense.

Sedan Looking to Bounce Back Against Flint Hills

After a tough loss last week to Cedar Vale-Dexter, Sedan (3-2) will look to get back into the win column this week against Flint Hills (0-5). Blue Devils head coach Mick Holt says his team will need to improve upon key areas to avoid falling to the same mistakes that cost them last week.

This week serves as homecoming for the Sedan community. You can hear the Blue Devils this week on our Game of the Week broadcast on the Mighty 690, KGGF.

Fredonia Prepares to Face an Unbeaten Team

The Yellowjackets have a tough matchup on Friday as the face 5-0 Belle Plain, who have three shutouts and have only allowed 28 points on the season.

Five Jayhawk Teams in Top 20

After a wild weekend of football in the Jayhawk Conference it sees five teams ranked in the top 20 with Fort Scott barely on the outside looking in. Hutchinson, who is coming off a 29-27 upset loss against Highland, dropped from number one to four. Butler after losing to Hutchinson two weeks ago fell from number two to number four and then was upset by Independence last week falling to number nine. Garden City moved up two spots and are right behind Butler at number ten. Highland who had the biggest jump of the week up six from twenty to fourteen. Finally, Independence jumped into the top 20 at seventeen after their big 49-20 win over Butler. Fort Scott is just one spot out from being ranked inside the top 20.

Iowa Western also received votes but are still a ways out from being in the top 20.

Friday Volleyball continues their busy week with two matchups at the Seminole Tri Match first at 3:00pm against Eastfield then at 5:00pm against Seminole. Saturday wraps up the week as football travels to Hutch for a 12:00pm kickoff, men's basketball has their first scrimmage against NOC Enid, the men's and women's soccer teams travel to Cowley for games at 2:00pm and 4:00pm and baseball has a scrimmage at UCO.

CCC Wins Second in a Row

Not even a lightning delay and some rain could stop Coffeyville from getting their first Jayhawk Conference win on the season as they come away with the victory 14 to 3 over Dodge City.  Red Ravens are now 2-5 on the season and the Conquistadors fall to 0-6.  Marco Lee created some lightning of his own in the first quarter getting CCC on the board first with a 66 yard touchdown run.  Dodge would answer with a field goal before CCC would tack on another touchdown in the 2nd quarter giving them the 14 -3 lead.  The Red Ravens defense was the star of the game preventing the Conqs from getting any sort of momentum holding them under 300 yards total offense.

Tough test next week for CCC as they head on the road to face a Hutchinson team coming off an upset loss to Highland 29-27.

Galena Tops Caney Valley in Double OT

A missed extra point and a missed field goal doomed the Caney Valley Bullpups as they fell to the Galena Bulldogs 38-30 in a wild double overtime affair.

After a low scoring, penalty filled first half, both teams came out trading scores before Caney Valley took at 22-14 lead thanks to a fumble by Galena and a scoop and score by Eryk Kyser. However, a missed a extra point allowed Galena to tie the game at 22-22 with 34 seconds remaining.  Caney Valley quarterback Trey Ritchie then hit Kyser with a 60 yard bomb to set up the Bullpups up in field goal range with a 6 seconds remaining but Kyser missed the field goal to send the game into OT. The teams traded OT scores before Galena scored and knocked away a 4th down pass to the corner of the end zone to preserve the win.

Galena improved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in district play.  Caney Valley dropped to 3-2 and 0-2 in district play.

Caney Valley looks to get back on track next week at home against Frontenac. You can hear the game on Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF.

Oswego Defeats West Elk in GOW

Homecoming Week ended on a positive note for Oswego. The Indians overcame a 22-0 deficit to storm back and defeat the West Elk Patriots 54-50 in the Game of the Week on the Mighty 690, KGGF.

The Patriots controlled most of the action early in Friday's game, with running back Nic Moreno picking up 4 rushing touchdowns in the first half. However, Oswego would pick up two scores at the half to head into the locker rooms only down 12 at 28-16.

Oswego would prove that they could keep the scores coming in the second half, taking the lead for the first time at 30-28. West Elk and Oswego would trade blows back and forth, but eventually the Indians would pull away to claim the win at 54-50.

Following the loss, the Patriots fall to 3-2. They will host Cedar Vale-Dexter next week. The Indians improve to 4-1 and will hit the road to take on Central Burden next week.

Next week's GOW will see Sedan host Flint Hills. Connor Harbit will have the call once again 690AM.

Nado Fall to 1-4 After Loss to Mulvane

Field Kindley struggled on both sides of the ball in tonight's 47-12 loss to Mulvane.  The defense held Mulvane in check for most of the first half but the offense struggled to finish drives failing on 4th down twice inside the redzone and then throwing a pick six, an interception and fumble giving the Wildcats quick scores and good field postion.  Tyronne Johnson tried to light a spark by returning the kick-off for a touchdown to end the first half but it was too little too late.

The Nado head on the road next week to face an Abilene team who have seen their own share of struggles to start the season.

West Elk Visiting Oswego in Week 5

The West Elk Patriots are 3-1 this season, and a big part of that success can be attributed to the team's offensive capabilities. In their three victories this season, West Elk has scored 172 points, including 70 against Central Burden a week ago. Head coach Chris Haag says generating a lot of points just isn't possible without the right pieces to do so.

The Patriots' next challenge lies on the road against Oswego, another 3-1 team that has also had solid success on both sides of the ball. West Elk does have a bit more momentum, with the Indians coming off a 56-22 loss to Sedan in Week 4. This year's matchup will be broadcast on the Mighty 690, KGGF, as our Game of the Week. Pregame will start at about 6:50, with Connor Harbit on the call.
