Nina Lucille Arnold

Nina Lucille Arnold of Chetopa, Kansas at the age of 98 went to her mansion that Jesus has prepared for her on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Nina was born on August 8, 1920 in rural Craig County, Oklahoma to William Clarence and Grace Alvaretta (Waybright) Fromm. She grew up in Craig County and attended Maybell School until the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho.  Nina, her parents and sister returned to the Chetopa where she completed her education at Maybell School.  On July 21, 1944 she married Herschel Wesley Arnold in Quapaw, Oklahoma.  She and Herschel shared many moves together, living in Coffeyville while Herschel was employed with Sinclair Oil, they then relocated to Wichita and Topeka, Kansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. In Tulsa while Herschel completed Barber School she attended the Tulsa Business College obtaining her associates degree.  Upon completing their educations they made their home in Chetopa, Kansas where Nina soon started her employment with H D Lee Garment Factory in the office area assisting with payroll, she transferred to the Miami factory upon the closing of the Chetopa location.   She then worked for Harrell Oil Company in Chetopa and Rohmiller Oil in Welch, Oklahoma where she had worked for a number of years before retiring.  She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chetopa.

Nina and Hershel were not blessed with children of their own but were very involved with helping raise their nephew, Darrel Arnold.   Darrel and his wife, Charlotte and daughters Tollie and Tonya were a huge part of their lives as well as her parents and sister, Goldie and her husband Bill Wall.  Family was extremely important to Nina.  There wasn't a holiday, birthday, or family gathering that were not spent with them.  Nina also valued her friends always making time to call, drop in or invite them to share a meal.

Nina was the kind of person that loved to care for others but wasn’t good at allowing others to do for her.  She loved to show her love by baking your favorite pie, cake, cookies or a meal for you.  You couldn't stop by for just a quick hello; she always wanted to share a cup of coffee and a baked good that she had prepared just in case someone stopped by to visit.  She loved to go out to eat and to go shopping, looking for the perfect bargain that she was really good at finding.  Nina always took great pride in her appearance and caring for her things.

Nina is survived by Darrel's wife, Charlotte Arnold, great nieces, Tollie and her husband Tom Haymaker all of Coffeyville, Tonya Arnold-Arbeitman and companion Chris Miller of Imperial, Missouri; great-great nieces and nephews, Bradley Haymaker and wife Amber of Coffeyville, Christopher Haymaker and wife Leah of Kansas City, Kansas, Douglas Haymaker and wife, Samantha of Pineville, Missouri, Gabrielle Arbeitman and boyfriend Nathan Venturella of St. Charles, Missouri, Elijah and Halle Arbeitman of Imperial Missouri, great-great-great nieces and nephews, Karson Haymaker, Isabell Haymaker, Piper Lucille Haymaker, Charlotte Jo Haymaker and Savannah Haymaker; and a whole host of extended family, and friends that she considered her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel of 50 years, her parents, sister, Goldie Wall and nephew, Darrel Arnold.

Nina moved to Coffeyville to be near Darrel and his family after her health declined, she never accepted it as home but enjoyed being able to see all of them more.  She tried to be content but always wished to go "Home".  The family welcomes you to share in the celebration of her life on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church located at 913 Maple, Chetopa, Kansas with Pastor Terry Robison officiating.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm also at the church.  Services will be under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel of Coffeyville.   Nina will be laid to rest next to her parents and loving husband, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.  The family request memorial contributions be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Chetopa First Christian Church and may be left in care of the chapel.  To leave a message of condolence for the family visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
