Izaac Nicolas Thompsom

Izaac Nicolas Thompson age 22 of Broken Arrow, OK passed entirely too soon from this world on August 27, 2019.

 

Izaac was born on June 6, 1997 in Coffeyville, KS to Jereme Prior and Sarah Thompson. He attended school in Independence and Broken Arrow. He excelled in the arts and loved anything that involved the arts. After graduation Izaac worked in a machine shop in San Jose where he was very quick to learn any task that was given to him. He then moved back to the Broken Arrow area where he loved his job as a cook at Smokey’s BBQ. When he wasn’t working, he could be found outside, whether it be skateboarding, riding his BMX, or camping you could guarantee he was enjoying nature. Izaac will be remembered for his loving demeanor, his kind heart, and his contagious smile. He was funny and he made friends with everyone he encountered and once you were his friend, he tried his best to make sure you were always happy.

 

Izaac’s memories will live on with his family, his mother Sarah Thompson, father Jereme Prior, brothers Justice Pugh and Tark Bekka, grandparents Gary Thompson his wife Barbara, Peggy King, Leslie Ricks and great-grandmother Dorothy Thompson, aunt Regan Pierce and 3 cousins.

 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 1:00pm with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery. To leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.fordwulfbrunschapel

Donald Wayne Transue

Donald Wayne Transue, 60, of Parsons, Kansas passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. 

 

Donald was born on August 20, 1958 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Calvin and Jo Evelyn (Goodson) Transue.  He attended school in Angola and Labette where he graduated from Labette County High School.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator. 

 

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Rainey of Yale, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Crook of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; brothers, Jerry Transue of rural Coffeyville, Kansas, Jim Transue and wife, Cathy of Valeda, Kansas, Tim Transue of Coffeyville, Kansas; three grandsons; niece, Kelly; great niece,

Gracie. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Jo Evelyn Transue and his brother, Tom Transue. 

 

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.  No services are scheduled at this time.

Caleb Michael "Boo" O'Donnell

Caleb Michael “Boo” O’Donnell, 32, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 following an accident in the Verdigris River near Coffeyville.

 

He was born on January 27, 1987 at Livingston, Alabama to Terrence “Terry” and Billie (Upshaw) O’Donnell. When he was 3 years old his family moved to the Coffeyville, Kansas and South Coffeyville, Oklahoma area. Caleb grew up in Coffeyville but he attended school in South Coffeyville graduating from South Coffeyville High School.

 

Caleb attended Crystal Brook Church in Independence. He enjoyed rap music and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children.

Survivors include his four children, Jonathan O’Donnell, Aiden O’Donnell, and Allison O’Donnell all of Coffeyville, and Alana Schumann of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his mother, Billie O’Donnell of Coffeyville; and four sisters, Michele Gibson of Perry, Oklahoma, Tara Victory of Coffeyville, Danielle O’Donnell of Coffeyville, and Leah O’Donnell of Coffeyville.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Terrence “Terry” O’Donnell; and two brothers, Gary  Lee O’Donnell and John Paul O’Donnell.

 

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2019 at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville with Pastor Judy Mustain of Life Point Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. There will be a dinner for friends and family following the service at the American Legion in Coffeyville, Kansas hosted by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. 

 

Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

John "Jack" David Maitlen III

John “Jack” David Maitlen III, 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019. 

 

Jack was born on August 26, 1946 in Cushing, Oklahoma to John and Selma (Copeland) Maitlen, II.  He grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas where he graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. 

 

In 1965 he was united in marriage to Rebecca (Abram) Vogt.  Of that union a daughter, Bonnie was born.  The couple later divorced in 1970.  He was united in marriage to Becky Nash.  The couple later divorced.  He was united in marriage to Kathy (Thomas) Argent and of that union a daughter, Kaci was born.  The couple later divorced. 

 

He married Berlene (Allen) Smith in June of 1990.  Of that union he gained a step son, Grady Smith.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville.  Berlene preceded him in death on August 22, 2002. 

 

Jack lived in Coffeyville, Kansas until 1980.  He then moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma until taking a job in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he worked for American Airlines as a machinist until his retirement on August 1, 2011.  He returned to Coffeyville where he has been ever since.  Jack was a member of the Transport Workers Union Local 514. 

 

Jack loved being a father.  He wasn’t perfect but he did the best he could and made sure his girls always knew he was in their corner.  He listened to his rock music loud and drank his Fosters cold.  His health had declined terribly while at the nursing home however, Medicalodges made it possible with the help of his family to get him on one last ride with his brother.  He enjoyed his time out fishing and going to casinos to try his luck.  Most of all he loved the time he spent with his family; especially the time he got with his grandchildren. 

Jack is survived by his children, Bonnie Maitlen of Overland Park, Kansas, Kaci Buchanan of Coffeyville, Kansas; step son, Grady Smith and wife, Debbie of Coffeyville, Kansas; seven grandchildren; brother, Tom Maitlen and wife, Karen of Brandon, Mississippi and sister, Carolynn Holsinger of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Selma Maitlen, II. 

 

Following Jacks wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

 

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Chaplain Keith Springer will officiate.  The family requests friends to join them Saturday evening August 24, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at The Zone in Coffeyville, Kansas to honor Jacks memory. 

 

Memorials can be made to the Coffeyville Friends of Animals; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.

Myrtle Aileen "Polly" Pearsall

Myrtle Aileen ”Polly” Pearsall, 96, of Caney, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Guest Home Estates in Caney, Kansas. 

 

Polly was born on February 12, 1923 in Peru, Kansas to O.B. and Myrtle Amanda (Squier) Bridenstine.  She grew up Caney, Kansas where she attended school and graduated from Caney High School. 

 

On September 27, 1942 she married the love of her life, M. L. Pearsall in Caney, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Caney where they raised their family. 

 

Polly was a member of the Frist Christian Church; and a member of the Sigourneyan Club, she was an amazing cook and she enjoyed sewing.  Polly was an amazing homemaker who took care of her family. Polly and her best friend Geneva Morency owned operated Geneva’s Clothing in Caney for several years, she also worked with helping in transportation for those who needed assistance with the Shepherd Center. 

 

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Kirkpatrick of North Carolina, Sherry Doty and husband, Roger of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sisters, Nannette Center of Dallas, Texas, Mary Birkbeck of Holton, Kansas; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Myrtle Bridenstine; loving husband, M.L. Pearsall; daughter, Dianne Lovejoy-Cornell and brother, Bud Bridenstine. 

 

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney with Reverend Bill Wright officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

 

The family suggests contributions can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.  These may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home at 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
