A Newton man was arrested yesterday morning on a variety of drug charges.

At around 11:30, Chanute police responded to the area of the 500 block of West First Street for a report of an individual slumped over in his vehicle. Upon officers arrival, they made contact with an adult male that appeared to be sleeping in his car. During the investigation, police K9 was deployed. During the search of the vehicle, officers located items commonly associated with illegal drugs.

43-year-old Daniel Keith Brill was arrested on the charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Neosho County Jail without incident.
