Stolen Scooter Found, Leads to Drug Arrest

Deputies recover a missing scooter that leads to a drug arrest. Earlier this week, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a Moped sitting in the Independence Eggberts parking lot. The moped matched the description of a one that had been reported stolen earlier in the month.

After responding to the Eggberts, deputies contacted the driver of the scooter who was identified as 25-year-old Peter Hawkins of Independence. Deputies searched the scooter and located marijuana, methamphetamine, and scales. Hawkins initially resisted arrest, but deputies were able to safely gain control and place him in custody. Deputies also found brass knuckles on Hawkins. Charges are recommended for Hawkins of possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property, criminal carry of weapons and interference with a law enforcement officer. The owner of the scooter was notified that it had been recovered.
