Trail enthusiasts are meeting at the Kansas State Capitol today to celebrate Sunflower State Trail Appreciation Day.

 Proponents of the trails are meeting to showcase their projects, talk about the health and economic benefits of trails and speak with lawmakers about the positive role public trails play in Kansas communities. Kansas Lieutenant Governor David Toland and Mike Passo, Executive Director of American Trails, are expected to speak.

The Sunflower Foundation's mission is focused on promoting healthy living for Kansas communities and schools, improving health care, and developing leaders of Kansas organizations to be effective advocates for the causes and communities they serve. For more information, visit their website here.
