IPD Transferring K9 Program to Sheriff's Office

The Independence Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have partnered to transfer the IPD Canine Program to the sheriff’s office.

IPD’s canine officer has taken a position with the MGSO. Chief Jerry Harrison says out of respect to the citizens of Independence that have supported the program they worked with Sheriff Wade to ensure the canine team is still here for their community. Sheriff Ron Wade says they are committed to providing canine team services to the citizens of Independence as well as increasing the canine services available to the entire county.

Anyone who would like to continue supporting the sheriff’s office canine program can contact the Community Foundation for Independence to learn how to donate. IPD will continue to have a donation account at CFFI for special projects.
