It's wildfire season in Kansas and with fire being a useful tool for landowners it's important not to let a prescribed burn get out of control.

Kansas Forest Service Public Information Officer Shawna Hartman says escaped intentional burning is a major cause of wildfires.  Kansas has recently developed a Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal. A link to the portal can be found here.
