Firefighters continue to battles wildfires in western Kansas.
Wildfires continues to burn across several western Kansas counties including Clark, Meade, Harper, Morton and Ford.
The City of Ashland in Clark County was ordered to evacuate on Monday as the nearby fires threatened residents. That evacuation order was lifted late Monday night. Fires and smoke also caused the closure of US-160 in Clark County.
Firefighters from southeast Kansas, including those from Coffeyville and Columbus also traveled west to help relieve exhausted fire crews. Governor Laura Kelly has issued a verbal State of Disaster Emergency to combat massive, lightning-sparked wildfires that have burned over 115,00 acres of grass and farmland.
