Coffeyville Public Schools issue a statement regarding an incident at Roosevelt Middle School.

 

According to a letter sent to parents this morning, school administration was made aware of information concerning a student that raised a safety concern at the school yesterday. School personnel contacted the Coffeyville Police Department and spoke with the student involved in the incident, who has been removed from school through suspension while the incident is investigated further.

 

Dr. Craig Correll says there is no indication of an immediate threat to students and staff. Correll adds that out of respect for student privacy and because the investigation is ongoing, he cannot provide additional details about the circumstances.

 

Correll says that in-place safety procedures were followed and asks parents to remind their children to always report anything that concerns them to a trusted adult.
