The Montgomery County Commission is set to meet today as they address economic development.
On today’s agenda Montgomery County Action Council Director Melissa Johnson will be on hand in regards to a Moderate Income Housing or M-I-H grant. The grant helps fund housing for moderate-income households in rural Kansas who make too much for traditional federal housing. There will also be a continued discussion over the county’s Economic Development Incentive Policy.
Interim County Administrator Kori White will also appoint volunteer citizens to the steering committee to assist with the County Comprehensive Plan. Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins will present the commission with a project agreement for work on bridge #67, located northwest of Sycamore.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, two Montgomery County residents have requested time to discuss the issue of data centers.
Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the County’s website.
