Nowata County receives federal funding from the July 4th storms.
President Donald Trump approved a major disaster declaration for the county, as well as Washington and Osage County. Emergency Management Director Laurie Summers says she was surprised to receive the funding.
Federal disaster relief will now be available to state, tribal and eligible local governments, as well as certain nonprofit organizations for needed repair work.
