Neodesha Attorney Appointed 31st Judicial District Judge

Category: Local News

Governor Laura Kelly appoints a Neodesha attorney to serve as a district judge in Wilson County.

Dennis Depew will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David Rogers, who will retire in January. Depew has more than four decades of legal experience, including serving as a partner at the Depew Law Firm in Neodesha beginning in 1983. He served as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation with the Kansas Attorney General's Office from 2015 to 2023. Since June 2023, Depew has worked as managing attorney for Kansas Legal Services' southeast Kansas office, providing civil legal services to low- and moderate-income residents across nine counties.

Governor Kelly says Depew's legal experience, community involvement and commitment to the rule of law will benefit residents of the 31st Judicial District. Depew says he looks forward to continuing his public service in Wilson County and maintaining the district's tradition of fair and timely judicial decisions. Depew has also served 21 years on the USD 461 Board of Education and is a past president of both the Kansas Bar Association and Kansas Association of School Boards. The 31st Judicial District serves Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties.
