Caney Valley Defeats Cherryvale in Tri Valley League Action

Caney Valley's ground attack was too much to handle, as the Bull Pups improved to three and one on the season by defeating the Chargers 54 - 20 in Tri Valley football action Thursday night.

Cherryvale started strong, as their first drive of 58 yards ended in a touchdown. With the two point conversion, they quickly took an 8-0 lead. For the rest of the first half, it was all Caney, with the one-two running combo of Jackson Griffin and Aston King providing the offense. Quarterback Garrett Watson also got into the end zone with a rushing touchdown.

The second half saw the Chargers special teams unit try and spark their team, as they recovered the on-side kick to start the half, and it did, temporarily. Once again, the Caney running game took control, with the Bull Pup defense holding up until late in the game.

Jackson Griffin ended up rushing 15 times for 162 yards, with three CVTD's; Astin King rushed twelve times for 82 yards and a TD. Quarterback Garrett Watson only had to pass the ball once; it was complete to Gavin Stimpson.

Caney Valley improved to 3 - 0 at home; they'll travel to Neodesha for week five action Friday, October 30th.
