Caney Valley Takes Third, Field Kindley Finishes Ninth at State in Girls Golf

Category: Local Sports

Class 3A and 4A state girls golf wrapped up yesterday afternoon, as Field Kindley and Caney Valley concluded their seasons on the links.

In 4A competition, Field Kindley did not finish among the top six teams that advanced to the second round of 18 holes; however, three individual golfers shot low enough to qualify for Day 2 and remain eligible for individual state medals.

Kennadi Freedle, Jessica Zimmerman and Avery Sells all teed off for an additional round, with Sells finishing tied for 24th, Zimmerman tied for 32nd and Freedle tied for 49th. Wamego took home the 4A team title with a cumulative score of 653 over 36 holes, finishing nine strokes ahead of runner-up Baldwin. The Nado finished ninth overall, missing the cut after Day 1 by just 18 strokes.

In 3A competition, Caney Valley brought home some hardware, finishing third as a team after entering Day 2 in second place. The Bullpups shot a combined 743 over 36 holes, finishing 19 strokes behind first-place St. Mary’s Colgan and runner-up Silver Lake.

Aiva Price finished tied for seventh, Alex Theiss tied for 12th, Harper Stallsmith placed 19th, Ashley Gaff tied for 26th, Nadaley Gulick tied for 42nd and Aly Wade finished 46th.

The Nado and Bullpups golf teams will hang up their drivers, chippers and putters for the winter, but both programs will look to return to the links in 2027 and bring home even more hardware.
