The Neodesha Bluestreaks advanced to the regional round of the Class 2A football playoffs with a 61-26 win over Pleasant Ridge in their Week 9 matchup Thursday night under head coach Nathan West.
The teams traded touchdown drives in a back-and-forth first quarter before Neodesha found its footing and pulled away. The Bluestreaks’ defense held the Rams to just 12 points over the final 36 minutes to help secure the victory.
West says his team did a great job weathering the early storm against a Rams team they knew little about. He adds that the consistent scoring gave his coaching staff time to make the necessary adjustments throughout the game.
Senior Camryn White had a nose for the end zone Thursday night, crossing the goal line six times while rushing for 140 yards. West says White is a talented player, and his offensive line, which features three seniors, has done a stellar job all season.
Neodesha will host Riverside this Friday as the fourth and fifth seeds on the east side of the bracket meet in a matchup between two 8-1 teams. The Cyclones and Bluestreaks each have just one loss, with both defeats coming against teams still in the hunt for a state championship.
