JoAnn Long

JoAnn Long, 88, a longtime Coffeyville resident passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at The Avenues of Park Forest in Farmers Branch, Texas.

She was born on January 7, 1933, at Edna, Kansas to Arthur Leslie “Buck” and Effie Arlene (Storm) Stine. JoAnn grew up and attended school in the Edna area graduating from Edna High School.

On November 15, 1952, she married the love of her life, William A. “Bill” Long in Edna, Kansas at the First Baptist Church. Following Bill’s discharge from the United State Army in 1953 the couple lived in Chetopa, Kansas and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where Bill taught school and they started their family. In 1963 the family moved to Coffeyville where Bill taught and JoAnn worked both worked at U.S.D. #445 until their retirement.

JoAnn was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville. She was an avid fan of the Coffeyville Red Ravens sports teams. JoAnn loved working around her home and most of all loved the time spent surrounded by her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike Long and wife, Cindy of Dallas, Texas and Bill Long and wife, Karen of McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Judy Lowery of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Arlene Stine; her husband Bill Long on June 30, 2021; and two sister, Virginia Stine and Beverly Kimrey.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Grace Fellowship Church, 2455 Woodland Ave. in Coffeyville with Pastor Doug Mund officiating.  Burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Grace Fellowship; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
