Georgia R. Corser

Georgia R. Corser, 94, Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away early Saturday morning, September 17, 2022, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Georgia was born on July 20, 1928, near Leroy, Kansas, to Herbert R. and Eva Sinclair Hammond.

Upon graduation from high school, Georgia moved to Los Angles, California, to attend a Four Square Church's, Life Bible College. Upon graduation she had obtained an ordination for ministry. While at Bible school, she worked as a nurses assistant at a hospital nearby. She moved back to Emporia, Kansas, upon completion of her schooling and accepted an associate pastor’s position at the Four Square church. She was very devoted in her playing the organ at her church of attendance for nearly sixty years.

On July 16, 1955, she married Myron M. Corser in Roswell, New Mexico. Together they chose to reside in the Southeast Kansas area and operated Corser’s Berry Farm and Green Houses.

Georgia was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Myron Corser Sr., son, Stephen Corser, infant son, David. Her stepson’s Myron Corser Jr. and Robert Corser. Her brothers Curtis Hammond and Herbert Floyd Hammond, her sisters, Ruby Alvord and Eula Smovelle.

Georgia is survived by her son, Carl (Diane) Corser, daughter, Elaine (Roger) Corser McCafferty, son, John (Millie) Corser, daughter, Karen (Phillip) Bleicher, daughter-in-law’s, Joan(Robert) Corser, and Elaine (Myron) Corser. She has 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at Harmony Grove Cemetery, northeast of Cherryvale, Kansas, on October 1st at 2 o’clock p.m. There will be a viewing at David Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas, on September 30th from 1p.m. until 8p.m.. There will be an open casket at the graveside service as well from 1 p.m. until the start of service at 2p.m.

The family has asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers to assist with the funeral expenses.
