Esther L. (Brown) O'Brien

Esther L. (Brown) O’Brien, age 87 of Liberty, Kansas passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Eagles Estates in Independence, Kansas.

 

 

 

Esther was born January 9, 1935, in Independence, Kansas to Harold A. Sr. and Eva “Ruth” (Smith) Brown. Esther attended elementary school in El Segundo, California from 1940 to 1945. She graduated from the Independence High School in 1952. 

 

 

 

On January 30, 1953, Esther married Robert F. O’Brien in Independence, Kansas. The couple made their home in Independence, Kansas until 1965 when they moved to the farm in Liberty, Kansas. Esther worked at Dr. Chan S. Han office in Coffeyville, Kansas for 22 years. She also served as 4-H leader for Peppy Progressive as cooking leader and woodworking. She loved woodworking and camping. Esther was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, DCOM committee, editor of church newsletter for many years. She also sang in the church choir and loved to visit family and travel.

 

 

 

Survivors include three sons Robert “Stephen” O’Brien and wife Kathy of Liberty, Kansas, Francis “Gene” O’Brien and wife Marcia of Liberty, Kansas, Ronald Wayne O’Brien and wife Stella of Liberty, Kansas; two daughters Janice Louise Ropp and husband Tim of Ochelata, Oklahoma, and Robin Colleen Allred and husband David of Tuttle, Oklahoma; 13 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren.

 

 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, one sister Rose Marie (Brown) Bramble, one brother Harold A Brown Jr. and one grandson Jeremy Dodson. 

 

 

 

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Liberty United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Booe officiating, burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery.

 

 

 

Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Liberty United Methodist Church, or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
