Teresa Marie Wren

Teresa Marie Wren, 62, a lifetime Caney, Kansas resident passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at her home following a long illness.

 

She was born on September 6, 1960, at Coffeyville, Kansas, to James Vernon, Sr. and Rosella Virginia (Ross) Soles. Teresa grew up and attended school in Caney.

 

On October 8, 1976, Teresa married the love of her life Ruben Wren, Jr. at Caney.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Caney where they raised their children, R.J. and Lacy.  After their children were raised Teresa returned to school graduating from Coffeyville Community College in 1991 with her Nursing Degree. 

 

She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Independence for many years. After the hospital closed, she worked at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville until retiring due to her health.

 

Teresa was a member of Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas.  She enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Survivors include her husband, Ruben Wren, Jr. of the home, her children, R.J. Wren and wife, Debra of Nowata, Oklahoma, and Lacy Wren of Caney; five grandchildren, Corbin Wren and wife, Hayley of Nowata, Oklahoma, Ashlyn Hefley of Manhattan, Kansas, Brady Wren and wife Katey of Nowata, Oklahoma, Gavin Stimpson and Khloe Stimpson both of Caney; three great-grandchildren, Lynnden, Collin and Cutter “Squishy”; her brother and sisters, James Soles and David Soles; Mary Ann Egan and husband, David and twin sister, Tessie Wren and Joe Killian all of Caney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2022, at the Tyro Christian Church with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney.

 

Friends may call on Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

The family suggests memorials in Teresa’s memory to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
