Betty Louise Smith, age 80, of Tyro, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at home. 

 

Betty was born on October 21, 1945, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Edgar and Nora (King) Fowler.  She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School. 

 

Betty was united in marriage to Gary A. Riedel, William E. Bailey, Jr. and Alvin Smith; all whom preceded her in death. 

 

Betty worked as a manager for Caney Valley Apartments for many years. If you knew Betty, you knew she loved the Lord.  She loved attending church at the Southview Church of God where she worshiped for many years.  She enjoyed working out in the yard and playing board games with family.  Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family.  Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christy Gray and husband, Raymond, Sonya Twitchell and husband, Louis; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, David, Kylea and husband, Chase; great grandchildren, Malaki, Brantley, Bradyn and Grayson; brother, Bruce Fowler and wife, Lurena along with numerous extended family and friends.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Nora Fowler; husbands, Gary Riedel, William Bailey, Jr. and Alvin Smith; infant son, Stephen Riedel; brother, Edgar Fowler and sister, Donna Cozort. 

 

Graveside Services will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.  Sister Albertis Bray will officiate. 

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Southview Church of God; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd.
