Harold E. Patterson, 93, former longtime resident of Coffeyville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at his home in Colwich, Kansas.

Harold was born on August 26, 1928, in Mound Valley, Kansas to Grover C. and Effie E. (Hartman) Patterson.  Harold attended grade school and graduated high school in Mound Valley.

As a young man, Harold operated the projector for the Community Movie night in Altamont, Kansas.  After completing the set up one evening, he grabbed a cup of coffee at the local diner.   A young waitress by the name of Thelma Steeby waited on him that evening and she made quite an impression on him.  After five years of courtship, the couple were married on June 25, 1949.  The couple were blessed with two daughters, Denise and Dena.

Harold worked for Junge Bakery in Coffeyville from 1949 to 1974 when the Coffeyville location was closed and relocated.  He found employment at Coffeyville Memorial Hospital now known as Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Environmental Services where he remained until his retirement in 1991.

Harold and Thelma were active in church attending Westside Christian Church prior to moving to Colwich when they began attending Pathway Church in Goddard.  Harold was also a member of the Keystone Lodge #102, Eastern Star, White Shrine, and volunteered in the CRMC Auxiliary.  Harold enjoyed anything related to trains, playing cards, photography, gardening, and traveling with his wife and family.   He could always be found at his daughters’, and later his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s, school activities and sporting events with camera in hand capturing every moment.  He will always be remembered for the funny stories he either recalled or made up, you really weren’t every for sure which it was.

Those left to honor him is his daughter, Dena and her husband Mike Purkey, son-in-law, David Morey, five grandchildren, Chris Purkey and his wife Megan, Jay Purkey and his wife Jamie, Kaitlyn Purkey, Shawn Morey and his wife Jenifer and Patricia Norris, twelve great grandchildren, Hazel, Hendrix, Jayden, Charlee Ann, Crosby, Mason Purkey, Paige and Petyon Morey, Christopher Norris, and Cyler Adkins and many other love-adopted family and friends.  Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, his daughter Dee Morey, three brothers, Harrison Hoffman, Lloyd and Alvan Patterson, three sisters, Mildred Looney, Velda Allen and Goldie McDowell.

Julia Sally Jaimez age 94 of Coffeyville, passed away on July 22, 2022 at Medicalodges of Coffeyville.

Julia was born in Independence, KS on April 6, 1928 to Eulogio and Cleofas (Sandoval) Rodriguez. Julia was raised in Coffeyville and attended local schools. She didn’t finish high school in order to start working to help with finances. Julia became a certified nurses assistant and found employment with Medicalodges of Coffeyville where she devoted over 20 years of service. She earned the Kansas CNA of the year award and was very proud to receive such an honor. Julia also was determined to receive her education and went back to get her GED while working and having her children. Julia was a devoted Catholic and loved her church and her church family. She enjoyed attending the Faith and Life group, going on walks, spending time with her family and grandchildren. She truly had a servant’s heart and was willing to help wherever it may have been needed.

Julia’s memories will live on with her children; Michael Jaimez and his fiancé Dianna Love of Topeka, KS, Tom Jaimez of Kansas City, MO, and Andrew Jaimez and his wife Rhonda of Coffeyville, KS, her sisters Liz Laymon of Wichita, KS, and Louise Jaimez of Coffeyville, KS, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She now rests with her parents, her children; Pete Jaimez, Samuel Jaimez, Daniel Jaimez, Tim Jaimez, and Christina Behrns, her siblings; Mary James, Victoria Perez, Lee Rodriguez, and John Rodriguez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 am at Holy Name Catholic Church, praying of the Rosary will be held prior to mass at 9:30 am. Karen Renee Greenlee age 51 of Coffeyville passed away on July 19, 2022 at her home.

Karen was born on May 29, 1971 in Great Bend, KS to Lester and Sherry Cell. She was raised in the Dewey and Coffeyville area where she attended and graduated from high school. Karen loved animals, cats, dogs, cows, well really just any animal. Karen worked at the VFW for many years making friends with everyone that came in and most recently she was working for SBM where she worked at Cessna. Karen was united in marriage to Rick Greenlee on November 2, 2012. The couple loved traveling the country together, fishing, camping, keeping count of the hawks they passed on their drives, and of course OU football. Karen was a warm soul that never met a stranger.

She will be missed most by her husband Rick Greenlee, her father and stepmother; Lester and Gayle Cell, her children; Shelby Cell, Corey Cell, and Triston Lotz, and step-son Lucas Greenlee and his wife Kayli her brother Eric Cell, and grandchildren; Deyton Jones, Kaysen Cell, Tynlee, Traxcyn, and Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her mother Sherry.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2022 at 9:00 am at Grace Fellowship Church with services following at 10:00 am. Phyllis V. Stuckey passed away at the age of 86 on July 20, 2022, in Coffeyville, Kansas at Medicalodge on Midland.

Phyllis was born on March 21, 1936, in Coffeyville Kansas to Wayne and Wilma (Gaughan) Cornett.  She grew up in the Coffeyville, Lenapah area with her parents and siblings. She completed her education at Field Kindley Memorial High School.

Phyllis married Jack Knowlton and together they had two sons, Robert, and Eddie.

Phyllis had a special bond with each of her sons, she called each of them multiple times a day, discussing the day, asking questions or just to say she loved them.  The loss of her son Eddie back in 2000 was devastating, a mother never anticipates having to bury her child.

Sunday dinners were usually spent with her son Robert, and his wife Lynda.  She treasured her family and her true desire in life was to spend quality time with her children and later grandchildren.   They will always remember her as a loving, selfless person that was always willing to help in any way she could.  She was often guilty of spoiling her grandchildren that she loved so.  Watching old Western Movies was one of her favorite pass times and she did enjoy having her nails freshly polished. 

Cherishing her memory and legacy is her son Robert Knowlton and his wife Lynda, grandchildren, Angela Pena (Fransisco) and Bradley Knowlton (Sandy) and great grandchildren, Gabriella and Elleana Pena, step great grandchildren, Peyton and Zacary Loveall.  She is now at rest with her parents, Wayne Cornett,  Wilma M. Schultz, step father, Bob Schultz and brother, Charles Wayne Cornett.

Evelyn L. Ward passed to her heavenly home Thursday, July 14, 2022.  She was born in Independence, Kansas to Ernest and Ammie (Bear) Towell.  Evelyn graduated from Wayside High School in 1946.  She completed her education at Independence Community College graduating in 1948. 

Evelyn began employment with Joe Acre public accounting office in the Professional Building in Independence. 

On May 17, 1958, she was united in marriage to Jack Ward in Hominy, Oklahoma.  With the birth of their first child, Evelyn became a full-time homemaker and caregiver. 

She was a lifelong member of the Bolten Friends Church. 

Survivors include her children, Van (Sharon) Ward of Caney, Kansas, Ruth (Layne) White of Nickerson, Kansas, and Reva (Del) Shepard of Caney, Kansas, grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Ward, Lex Ward, Callie (Clayton)Williams, Sarah (Ryan) Nuest, Joel (Maggie) White, Corbin Shepard, Caitlin (Andrew) Termini, Cristin (Christian) Tavernaro, one great granddaughter, Nova Ward and a sister-in-law, Tillie Hines.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ammie Towell and by her loving husband, Jack Ward. 

Memorial Services will be held by the family on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Bolton Friends Church in Bolton, Kansas.  Pastor Grady Miller will officiate. 

A private family burial will take place on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Harrisonville Cemetery.

Donny “Don” Gene Perkins passed away at the age of 85 on July 12th, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Don was born November 20, 1936, to Emma Bernadine Moore and Earl E. Perkins six miles west of Howard in the home. He attended Union Center School and graduated from Howard High School in 1954. He graduated from Kansas State College in 1958 studying Animal Husbandry. He was a member of the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

After graduation he returned to the cow/calf ranch near Howard and helped create Earl Perkins & Sons with his father & brother Bill. This continued the ranching operation that has now existed for over a hundred years. In 1963, he married Shelby Wells of Independence. Three sons were born: Rick, Patrick, and Philip.

Don served on many committees and boards throughout his lifetime.    Those capacities were as president of Caney Valley Electric Co-op, president of Elk County Farm Bureau, Howard Fair Board President, and on the 4-H Sale Committee. He served on the Soil Conservation Board for many years. He was on the Extension Council and was a 4-H leader.

Through the years, many awards were given to the Ranch for Soil Conservation Practices and Range Management. The ranch, the pasture and the cattle were his real passions. 

Don is preceded in death by sister Betty Jo, mother Bernadine, and father Earl. He is survived by wife Shelby Sue of Howard, brother Bill and wife Ramona Sue of Howard, son Rick and wife Susan of Wichita, son Patrick and wife Julie of Howard, son Philip of Shawnee, grandchildren Tegan and husband T. J. Ulmen of Goddard, Emily and fiancé Brody Nicholas of Osage City, Angela of Manhattan, Christina of Howard and great-grandson Quincy Ulmen of Goddard.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 10am at Howard United Methodist Church with Pastor Katy Jordan officiating. Mable R. Trussell was called home to glory on July 3, 2022.  She passed at the age of 81 peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Mable was born on March 5, 1941, in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Herman and Addie (Steele) Adams.  

Mable married Ozell Trussell and had seven children together.  Donald, David, Debbie, Addie Lee, Sherry, Michelle, and Regina.

She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at both Medicalodge and Windsor Place in Coffeyville.  Mable spent most of her life caring for her children and then grandchildren.   In addition to caring for her family she greatly enjoyed talking and walking especially to the store for her scratch off tickets.  She was known around town as “Granny”.  She was kind, beautiful and would help anyone, and to her family she was perfect.  She would randomly say “God give me strength” followed by “If I had wings I would fly”.  July 3rd, she got her wings and she’s flying high.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Arma Washington; children, Donald and David Trussell, Debbie Coleman, Addie Scott, and Regina Williams; 91 grandchildren and great-grandchildren combined.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Herman Adams Jr., daughters, Sherry and Michelle Trussell and grandson, Tyree Trussell.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11 am at St. John’s Church of Faith, 602 W. Martin St., Coffeyville with Pastors Renisha Woods and Purley Wilson officiating.  The service will be available for viewing on Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel website under Mable’s obituary.   Immediately following services Mable will be laid to rest next to her daughter in Fairview Cemetery. Sharon Kay Muller, 79, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at her home.

She was born on March 7, 1943, in Coffeyville to Jake Carter and Marie (Randolph) Trotter. Sharon grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School.

On January 20, 1962, Sharon was united in marriage to Fred Muller in Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their daughters, Marcy and Kelly.

Sharon loved being a homemaker, she volunteered in the Holy Name Catholic School Library for many years and was supportive of her daughters many activities over the years.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Altar Society, coordinated and served funeral dinners at the church for over 25 years, was a member of the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for over 40 years and served on the CRMC Foundation Board for several years, but Sharon and Fred’s greatest pleasure was being surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Muller of the home; daughters, Marcy Bunds and husband, Jack of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Kelly Sutton and husband, Greg of Wakefield, Kansas; grandchildren, Monica (Dustin) Martin, Kyle (Natalie) Bunds, Cassie (Stephen) Kraus, and Cayley Sutton; and twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Phyllis Adamson, and one granddaughter, Caitlan Sutton.

A Rosary Vigil service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, with visitation to follow at Holy Name Catholic Church. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9th at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father James Schibi officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
