Viola Faye Taylor, age 86, of Wann, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville.

Faye was born on July 29, 1936, in Winslow, Arkansas to Alva Leroy and Myrtle (Craig) Landelius.  She was a homemaker, a talented seamstress and a Christian of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her loving children, Teresa Thompson, Daniel Abell and Terry Abell along with their families and numerous extended relatives and friends.  Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bennie Taylor and by her siblings.

 Following Faye's wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.  No public services are scheduled at this time.

Richard C. Long, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the OHI Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  

Richard was born on August 16, 1950, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Woodrow and Mary Alice (Small) Long.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended elementary school and Field Kindley Memorial High School.  On November 10, 1969 he joined the United States Navy.  He achieved the rank of Seaman E3 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal (2), the Vietnam Campaign Medal (D) and the U.S. Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.  Richard was given an honorable discharge from active duty and transferred into the U.S. Navy Reserves on October 22, 1971.  He served in the USNR until July 22, 1975.  

Richard was united in marriage to Sue Jaimez.  Of this union two children were born, Stephanie and Jason.  The couple later divorced.  

Richard was a hard worker and loved by those who knew him.  His career was spent working for the City of Coffeyville where he served more than 30 years and made many lifelong friends.  His favorite past times were fishing and spending time with the people he loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Shepard and husband, Aaron of Lawrence, Kansas, his son, Jason Long of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Kira and Andre Shepard; siblings, Georgia Alston of Coffeyville, Kansas, Geraldine LaPee and husband, Myrle or Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Martha Long of Coffeyville, Kansas, Mary Reese and husband, Philip or Coffeyville, Kansas along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mary Alice Long and by his brother, James Long.  

Following Richard’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery.  Military Honors will be provided by the local V.F.W. Post #1022 and the American Legion Post #20.

Gary L. Andres, 81, beloved Husband, Son, and Father, was called to his eternal resting place on April 25, 2023, at his home in Coffeyville, Kansas with family at his side.

Gary entered this world on August 27, 1941, in Independence, KS, born to Roy and Elva Andres. He grew up in Independence, graduating from Independence High School in 1959.  Gary served in the Air Force from 1962 - 1968.

A beautiful young woman named Judy Melton caught his eye while working at the outdoor movie theater in Dearing, Kansas in the summer of 1957.  They dated for 7 years and were wed on December 21, 1963, in Dearing, while he was stationed in Minot, North Dakota where they resided until his honorable discharge.  The couple returned to Coffeyville making it their forever home where they raised their two sons, Gary, and Jeffery.  Gary and Judy were active members of Dearing Christian Church and the couple just celebrated 59 years of marriage.

He was a self-accomplished graphic designer and artist.  He painted numerous paintings, and hand painted graphic designs on airplanes, business vehicles and an ambulance for CRMC several years ago. Gary had several jobs over the years.  He began his adult career days as the credit manager at the Sherwin Williams store downtown Coffeyville. He then began working at Funk Manufacturing, now known as John Deere in inventory and production control where he worked for 20 plus years before retiring.

Gary enjoyed many things in life but nothing more than spending time with his family.  The Andres’ family has a long generational history of Saturday night family gatherings known by all as “Hamburger Night”. For years there would be as many as 50 hamburgers made for all that came.  Over the years the frequency has lessened, families have moved away, and became smaller in numbers, but no matter the location of families the tradition has continued.  When everyone is “home” a “Hamburger Night” is planned. In addition to spending time with his family Gary truly enjoyed fishing, casting a line, and just waiting for the perfect catch. He could build anything, gifted with the talent to engineer just about anything that came to mind.  With just a little doodling, a few measurements and before you knew it, he had it built.  Gary didn’t sit still well, if he wasn’t fishing or building something he was outside doing yard work.  He also liked to collect Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and other Old Western memorabilia.  He was also an avid KC Chiefs fan and loved to cheer them on during football season.

Gary is survived by his wife Judy Andres; son Gary D. Andres and his wife Barb; son Jeffery A. Andres and his wife Shannon; Grandchildren, Christopher, Jackie, Katie, Sara, Myles, and Holly and one Great Grandson, Cayde; Brothers, Bill Andres and his wife Jeanie, Danny Andres and his wife Carla, David Andres and his wife Stacy, Dennis Andres, and his wife Veronica; Sister Kay and her husband Ron Hensley.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Andres.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 29 at Ford- Wulf- Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas at 11am. Sandra Kay Tullis, 81, of Metter passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Tullis was born the daughter of Sanford and Helen Back in Oswego, Kansas. When she was young, she married the love of her life, Mr. Randall Tullis. She lived most of her life in Coffeyville, Kansas but has resided in Metter for the past five years. During her time in Metter, she became an active member of New Life Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving in the church, especially Operation Christmas Child. Mrs. Tullis loved to express her creative side by creating jewelry in her spare time. She also loved to spend her time shopping. Mrs. Tullis spent years working in the food service industry, where she made lifelong friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tullis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Randall Tullis; a brother, Stanley Back; and a granddaughter, Ashton Bryant.

Surviving is a son Douglas Tullis of Independence, Kansas; a daughter, Kimberly Bazemore of Metter; her grandchildren, Dusty (J.K.)  Crews and Zachary (Kim) Bryant; and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Stark, Kenneth Colton Crews, Dylan Crews, and Kinsley Bryant.

A Memorial Service will be held under the direction of Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel on Saturday, May 6,2023, at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1501 W. 9th, Coffeyville, Kansas at 10am, with Richard Graves officiating. Frances Louise Kuehn, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from complications at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Frances is survived by her long-time husband, Dale Kuehn; her son, Dale Wagner and daughter-in-law Cindy; stepchildren, Francis, Alan, Chris, and Patrick; three grandchildren, Anthony, Aaron, and Cheyenne; and two great grandchildren, Oliver and Ian.

Steve Westervelt began life in this world on August 26, 1948, born William Eugene (W.E.) and Celena M. (Herrington) Westervelt.  He passed from this life into his eternal resting place with his Lord and Savior on April 19, 2023, at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Steve is the fourth son of five plus one sister, He was born at the Southeast Kansas Hospital in Parker, Kanas prior to the township incorporating into Coffeyville. Steve grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended school and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School.

Shawn, the son of Steven and Sharon is fearlessly doing his best, to fulfill the new role of the leader of the family shares his perspective of his dad’s life as a son, brother, husband, and father. 

After graduation Dad began working.  He met my mom, Sharon Kay Robinett, while they were working at Blitz Manufacturing. He caught her attention by shooting her in the backside with a staple gun.  They were united in marriage on December 21st, 1969 and were married for 53 wonderful years at the time of Dad's death. Dad took his vows of commitment to Mom as an eternal promise. For 53 years, they loved each other in sickness and in health. I promised my Dad I would make sure Mom was safe. I will do my best to honor that promise.

My parents had two children Sandra (Sandy) Kay Westervelt, and me, Shawn Matthew Westervelt. My Dad took his marriage vows to heart and followed them to the letter. As I collected the wedding ring from Dad after he passed in the hospital, it occurred to me that was the first time it had left his hand in 53 years.

Dad was a long-time employee of Funk Manufacturing. He retired after over 30 years of service in 2004 as a maintenance mechanic.  Dad loved animals and had numerous dogs, cats, and horses over the years, but none he loved as much as his black Lab Jetta. Dad had various hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was a life-long member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge and enjoyed softball, horses, fly fishing, hunting, competitive shooting, reenactments, and photography. I didn’t notice at the time, but his interests evolved to the things those important to him were interested in. Looking back, his interest was his family. He pursued any activity those around him wanted to do. Dad only wanted to spend time with his family. It wasn’t the activity; it was the time with those around him.

As much as Dad loved his family, Mom was the center of his world. Every decision he made had her at the center. He made sure every aspect of Mom's needs were cared for. Nothing would come between them, and Dad fought fearlessly for Mom and loved her without boundaries.

Dad always tried to protect his family anyway he could.  Even when he made the phone call to inform me that he was ill and, in the hospital, telling me there wasn’t a need to come.  Thankfully, the nurse at CRMC took over the conversation allowing the family to arrive and spend his final days with him before his passing.

There are two times a person is most vulnerable in their life, when they are born and when they die. I was there with Dad when he passed. I saw his pupils pulse. I believe that was his soul, leaving his body.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughter Sandy Westervelt and partner Lisa Collins and son Shawn Westervelt and wife Holly, grandchildren Cade, Peyton and Brennan Westervelt, brother Bill Westervelt and wife Kim.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eugene (W.E.) Westervelt (August 29, 1900 – November 3, 1974), Mom Celena M. Westervelt (August 31, 1906 – March 1, 1985); brothers, Marion Westervelt (1926 – 1927), Robert, “Bobby” Westervelt (1928), Phillip Westervelt (1932 – 1945), and sister Norma Jean Westervelt Wright-Eveleigh (July 5, 1924 – August 22, 1997).

Edward “Ed” E. Young, 74, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on June 25, 1948, in Larned, Kansas to Charles and Norma (Bishop) Young.  When Ed was young the family moved to Harrisonville, Missouri where he grew up and attended school. In 1964, they moved to Coffeyville where Ed completed his education graduating from Field Kindley High School.

Ed was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from June 13, 1969, to September 6, 1975.  After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Coffeyville and worked as an electrician.

He married Anna Neal; she preceded him in death in 2015.

Survivors include his children John Emery, James Young, Angela Hollowell and husband Johnny, and Karrie Stansbury, stepchildren Ian Neal and Krystal Neal, sister Sharon Allen and husband John, brothers-in-law, Stuart Neal and wife Donna, Noah Neal and Lynn Neal, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Young, his mother and step-father Norma and Robert W. “Bill” Gentry, his wife Anna Young, brother Larry Young and two granddaughters.

A graveside memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20.  Inurnment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.

Hazel Marie Hunigan, resident of Medicalodges on Midland, passed from this life into the presence of her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Hazel Marie Hunigan was born in Muldrow, Oklahoma. She moved to Coffeyville, Kansas with her parents and family at the request of her father’s brother, Dennis Hunigan, who owned a family grocery store and wanted his brother to help him. They moved next door to the store, and she continued to live in Coffeyville excluding a few years until their death. She had 7 siblings (Alice, Irene, Mary E, Curtis, Ernest and Sylenthius Hunigan)

Hazel attended schools in Coffeyville and graduated in the class of 1942. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She joined the Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. She played the piano for the church and choir for over 50 plus years.

Her basic enjoyment was just being with her family and being around her nieces and nephews.

She loved coming to Topeka, Kansas to visit with her niece Doris and her husband Charles and their family. She also enjoyed visiting with other relatives, especially riding the train to Detroit, Michigan, and California. She lived in California for several years but returned to Coffeyville to help her mother.

Hazel loved to play the piano, in addition to playing at church she would bless her family by playing and singing during her visits.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory are her numerous nieces, nephews those that remained closest to her were Doris, Dorothy, Betty, Judy, Helen, Howard, Mary Jo, Willie, Katherine, Curtis Jr. and Frankie Mae, several cousins, and friends. Her memory will always be in our hearts. 

Her kindness, concern for others and deep willingness to help others will never be forgotten.

Funeral services celebrating her home going will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas at 11am. The family and friends will gather for a viewing from 10am until service time. Dwayne E. “Coke” Wilson age 78 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at St. John’s Ascension Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dwayne was born on April 6, 1945, to Mardella Shipman Wilson and his father in Wichita, Kansas.  Dwayne’s parents divorced and he grew up in Wichita.  His mother remarried and he was raised by the father that loved him, Mervin Ryan.  Mardelle passed when Dwayne was just fourteen and Mervin remarried Evelyn, and she also loved and raised him as her own.

On August 14, 1965, Dwayne married the love of his life, Nancy Webb.  Together they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their four children, Carol, Lisa, Eddie and Tim.  Dwayne loved his wife deeply.  She was his world, when Nancy was diagnosed with breast cancer, he actively cared for her until her passing.

 Dwayne worked as a carpenter for over 35 years at Good Construction and last known as Wilburn Construction until an injury forced him to retire.  Dwayne was a good husband, father, and grandfather, he loved his family deeply, and he worked hard to provide for them.

Dwayne’s love for the outdoors truly defined him, he enjoyed fishing, sittin’ on the front porch listening to music while watching the traffic pass by.  He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee and getting his grandchildren all riled up in conversation and he was even known to have enjoyed a good nap.

Family traditions and wonderful memories with Dwayne will live on through his children Carol Wagner (Roger), Lisa Cooper (Jack), Eddie Wilson and Tim Wilson (Heather); sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; his sister Dorothy Bryan and other siblings; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 1pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas.  A private inurnment will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery.  The family request memorial contribution be made payable to American Cancer Society- with a note in the memo for TLC Program (tlc" Tender Loving Care is a not-for-profit website and catalog of the American Cancer Society. Just before his 30th birthday Stoney Michael Mitchell passed away in Coffeyville, Kansas on April 8, 2023.

Stoney was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on May 31, 1993, to Tamera Powers Robertson and raised by the father in his life, Johnny Robertson.  Stoney grew up in Coffeyville with his siblings Charie, Branden, Korey, Birttney and Samantha where he also attended school, graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School.  After graduation he worked for O’Riley’s Auto Parts store as a delivery driver.

Stoney’s son Gavin Michael was the joy in his life.

Stoney was that person that everybody loved, he never knew a stranger and was a good friend to many but best friend to Jordan Arend and Greg Reed. He was a diehard New England Patriots fan, he had a goofy laugh, and an infectious smile.   Stoney enjoyed playing video games in person with friends and over the internet.  Camping, fishing, and spending time with immediate family or extended family at gatherings what he considered a perfect day.  Outdoor life was what encouraged him and kept him going until health issues began to intensify.

His family that is deeply mourning his loss is his mother, Tamera and the father involved his life Johnny Robertson, siblings Charie Ardrey and husband Dakota and his brother that he was inseparable from Branden Mitchell and fiancé Lily, Korey Blecha, Brittney Blecha, and Samantha Oliver; grandparents Jeff Powers and Diana Powers; nieces Ashlyn Neas, Brynlee Ardrey; several cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret Andrews, Jerry Caldwell, Fred Root, and Edith Kissack.

Junella Marie (VanTieghen) Reed, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at her home on Thursday, March 30, 2023. 

Junella was born on September 4, 1926, in Parsons, Kansas to Joseph and Ola Mae (Snyder) VanTieghen.  She graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and Coffeyville Community College.  She furthered her education in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Kansas State Teachers College.  Junella was an active member and former drum major of the Drum & Bugle Corp in both high school and junior college.  She was a member of the Theta Sigma Upsilon and was crowned Queen at the Kanza Ball her junior year, she was selected by Phil Harris. 

On May 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Wayne Reed.  Of that union a daughter, Stephanie "Steph" Reed was born.  The couple later divorced in July of 1965. 

Junella worked in dispatch for the Coffeyville Police Department.  She went on to be the first female police officer for the Independence Police Department and was a former member of the American Federation of Police and the International Association of Women’s Police.  In September of 1993, she was awarded the Presidents National Medal of Patriotism by the American Police Hall of Fame.  Junella changed paths and went into the medical field where she was an established Lab & Xray Tech for many of the doctors in Coffeyville until retirement. 

Junella and her daughter, Steph, had a very special life-long bond.  During Steph's softball years Junella was there for every single ball game Steph had. She was a member of the PTA and assisted with field trips with Steph's Girl Scout Troop.  Junella made sure that in addition to Steph learning how to drive, she was also practicing defensive driving.  Making sure she was always paying attention to her surroundings.  She took Steph to the shooting range to teach her how to shoot and handle guns.  Junella wanted to share as much knowledge as she could with Steph.  She also encouraged her to take tap and baton, making all her costumes. 

Junella was the best mother a daughter could ask for.  She never answered a question or set a rule with “because I said”.  She and her daughter could talk about anything.  She loved music, at one point when younger, she played the steel guitar.  She instilled her love for music in Steph.  She liked gospel, her favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art” by George Beverly Shea.  She also liked classical, her favorite song was “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Big Band Music and could listen for hours to piano instrumental music.  She also instilled in Steph love, honor, integrity, compassion, honesty, faith, the importance of keeping a promise and the value of the dollar.  She told Steph many times that she could achieve anything she set her mind to and anything worth having is worth working for. 

Junella was a Christian and in previous years was a member of the United Methodist Church and sang in the choir.  She later attended church with Steph and eventually the two would listen to and watch sermons on television or the radio.  Junella was an incredible seamstress.  She qualified through The Singer Company to attend a special tailoring class in Chicago that she was very proud to have attended.  Steph recalled her mother could see an outfit or article of clothing then recreate it from memory at home.  Junella often made her own patterns and made many articles of clothing for her and Steph throughout the years.  Some of her other hobbies included knitting, being outdoors, doing yard work, riding bicycles and playing tennis with Steph even in the winter.  She was a perfectionist in everything she did and very modest. 

Junella is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie "Steph" Reed of Coffeyville, Kansas, their five cats and a puppy that Junella loved dearly, along with extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ola Mae VanTieghen, two brothers and many beloved pets. 

Following Junella's wishes, a private direct burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home.  Junella's family and friends may sign the guest register and watch her picture tribute on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  Her daughter, Steph Reed will be present at the funeral home to greet friends.

Rita Mae Wilson passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at her home in Coffeyville Kansas.

She was born to Lucille Stone and Warren Stone on August 8, 1935 in Long Beach California. She grew up in Bakersfield California and graduated from Bakersfield high School. She met her future husband Kenneth Wilson from Coffeyville Kansas in 1952. She moved to Coffeyville and married him in 1955. In 1958 her son Curt Wilson was born. In 1961 her daughter Gina Wilson Shafer was born.

She lived her life in Coffeyville and worked for Cook manufacturing company. Later she worked in insurance sales for many years.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Caney Kansas and in Coffeyville Kansas.

Survivors are her husband Kenneth Wilson, son Curt Wilson, daughter Gina Shafer and Husband Bob Shafer of Broken Arrow Ok. Her grandchildren Bobby Shafer and wife Susan Shafer of Gardner Kansas, Brady Shafer of Tulsa Ok and Brent Shafer of Fort Collins Co. She has five great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services celebrating Rita's life will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at the First Assembly of God, 1504 W. 8th St. in Coffeyville with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Harry John Miller 93 of Coffeyville, Kansas was born on November 21st, 1929, and passed away April 4th, 2023, peacefully at home with his wife of 73 years, Phyllis Marie (Blagg) Miller by his side. Harry served his community as a Montgomery County Sherriff’s Deputy for several years where he was proud to be a founding member of Montgomery County’s first Scuba Dive Rescue Team.

Harry was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Bob and Jessie (Ball) Miller, brothers Walter Miller and Bob Miller, daughter Pam (Miller) McGeary, son-in-law Daniel McGeary, and un-named twin McGeary grandsons. Harry is survived by his wife Phyllis Marie (Blagg) Miller, daughter and son-in-law Terri (Miller) and Michael Wayne III, nephews Tim Miller and wife Liz, Brent Blagg and wife Roxie, nieces Brenda (Blagg) Smith and husband Mike, Bridget (Blagg) Everett, Ann (Miller) Colliander and husband Dick and Vicki (Blagg) Staudenmyer and husband Vince, grandchildren Suni McGeary, Stephanie Dingman and husband Ryan Dingman, Jason Wayne and wife Melanie, great-grandchildren Leland and Avie Mae Vanwinkle, Anna Compton, Mallori, Owen and Dax Dingman, Kreed and Kloey Wayne and great-great grandchild Delilah.

David “Dave” N. McCurley, age 91, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

 Dave was born on March 22, 1932, in Scraper, Oklahoma to Nute and Winne (Johnson) McCurley.  On December 5, 1950, Dave joined the United States Airforce in Hanford, California.  During his service he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Broze Star and the United Nations Service Medal.  On September 27, 1952, he was honorably discharged from Stead Airforce Base in Nevada.  While living in California, Dave worked for the City of San Jose as a transit supervisor.  He would later own and operate a Douglas, gas station, a Shell, gas station and a car lot.

As a teenager, Dave was sweet on a local girl by the name of Martha L. Tosh.  The two dated for a time but eventually life took them separate ways.  Dave never forgot Martha or the love he felt for her all those years ago.  In the 1980's he moved to Branson, Missouri where he built a home he planned to share with the love of his life, Martha.  The two were reunited and the spark between them was still there.  Not wanting to waste another day, on December 4, 1993, Dave and Martha were united in marriage and together they shared the next 30 wonderful years.  The couple made their home in Branson, Missouri.  They enjoyed traveling and enjoyed the local theatres in Branson.  The Pierce Arrow Theater was their personal favorite.  They stayed in the Branson area until 2015, when they moved back to Oklahoma.  The couple passed away only 2 months to the day, apart from each other.

Dave loved his family and friends and the time he spent surrounded by them.  Surviving to honor his memory are his children, David L. “Shorty” McCurley and wife, Kim, Cathe Giannetti and husband, John, Kerry McCurley and Sharon Sadowski; stepchildren, Pamela Ward, Genia Leroy, John (Sonya) Tackkett, Sonya (Larry Shufelt) Tackkett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Nute and Vinnie McCurley, loving wife, Martha McCurley and by his siblings.

 A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  Family and friends can stop by the funeral home to sign the guest register and pay their respects.

A Graveside Service will be held for Dave on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Veterans Patio in Coffeyville.  Pastor Mark Wilson will officiate.  Military Honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20 Honor Guard.

John “Scott” Massman, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Thursday March 30th on his 71st birthday peacefully at the hospital with family at his side.

Scott was born March 30th, 1952 in the Bronx, NY. He was shortly later adopted by his loving parents John and Laverne Massman. He was an only child. He grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he attended grade school through high school. Upon graduation he worked a few years in New York City under his father, but decided he wanted smaller town life, and moved to Coffeyville Kansas around 1970 and attended Coffeyville Community College graduating with a degree in land surveying.

Scott was united in marriage with his one true love Melissa Massman (Brown) on September 29, 1978 at Spring Hill Church north of Coffeyville. The couple made their home and family in Coffeyville Kansas. Scott worked several places throughout his career, including owning his own land surveying company, working for the City of Coffeyville for over 20 years, and other odds and ends. Scott was passionate about his work, including work done all throughout Coffeyville such as work on the stadium that is there today and other various road and construction projects throughout Coffeyville.

Scott was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and has served on several of the boards there. Everybody that knew Scott, knew his love for music. Scott has played instruments since he was approximately 12 years old. He played drums, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, mandolin, and other various instruments throughout his life. Scott was a man of not too many words during a conversation, but he could express himself through music. Most recently he enjoyed playing at the church and picking the guitar with his friends. Scott also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Molly Massman Hutchison, and husband, Zack, of Parkerfield, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa, and his parents, John and Laverne.

Following Scott’s wishes cremation will take place. A memorial service celebrating Scott’s life will take place Friday, April 7th, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1001 West 8th St. in Coffeyville, Kansas.

The family suggests memorials to the Midland Theatre of Coffeyville, Kansas and contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care to David W. Barnes Funeral Home at 306 N Cline Rd Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.

Karin Fae Foster-Young passed away unexpectedly at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the age of 71.

Karin was born in Nowata, Oklahoma to Leroy and Norma (Young) Foster on August 29, 1951. She grew up in the Lenapah area where she also attended school with her four siblings, Robert Foster, Richard Foster, Mark Foster, and Debbie Mckee. 

Karin was a strong, outgoing, family-oriented personality. She worked hard all her life to provide for her children and even her grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and always wanted what was best for them, no matter the situation. Karin also enjoyed the company of her many friends at the American Legion and VFW in Coffeyville, Kansas. There, she spent most of her later years, surrounded by the people she enjoyed. She will be missed by countless amounts of friends and family.

 Karin leaves behind three children that she loved, Lance Harrington and wife Nancy, Kallie Gibson, and Kerra Harrington; 10 grandchildren that she adored, Dalton Harrington, Dillon Harrington, Cody Harrington, Ty Harrington, Kyler Gibson, Erik Gibson, Karigan Gibson, Kiearra Harrington, Quan Smith, and Dominique Smith; 11 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; brother Mark Foster and brother-in-law Terry Joe McKee. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert Foster and Richard Foster, and sister, Debbie McKee.
