Elsie “Joan” (Post) Shearhart passed away June 15, 2023, at the age of 90.  She passed peacefully at her home at Gran Villas on Tyler in Coffeyville, Kansas, with family at bedside.

Joan was born July 19, 1932, in Winfield, Kansas, to Claud Bryan and Elsie Golda (Rowlands) Post.  She grew up in the Edna and Altamont areas.  She attended schools in Altamont, graduating from Altamont High School in 1948.  She also attended Coffeyville Junior College.  

Joan married James Robert (Jim) Masters in 1952.  Three children were born to this marriage:  Elizabeth Lynn, Judith Ann, and Carl Bryan.  They were later divorced.  

Joan then married Jay Everett Shearhart on September 25, 1968.  Jay brought two sons into the marriage, John Everett and Charles Edward Shearhart.  Jay and Joan enjoyed 50 years of marriage prior to his death in 2019.  

Joan worked as a secretary in various companies before leaving work to raise her new combined family.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Coffeyville, where she served on the Altar Guild for 55 years.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and being with her family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Lynn Bumgarner of Coffeyville, Kansas, Judy (Phil) Neely of Coffeyville, Kansas, and one son Bryan (Juli) Masters of Wichita, Kansas.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren (Jennifer, Michael, Rebecca, Jessica, Benjamin, Katelyn, Marshall, Mariah, Johnny, and Mary) and 14 great-grandchildren.  

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jay, her parents, two step-sons and their wives, John (Janet) Shearhart and Charles (Jami) Shearhart, daughter-in-law Cheryl Capps, son-in-law David Bumgarner, and sister and brother-in-law Betty and Leonard Nettleton.  

David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Coffeyville is in charge of services for Joan.  Services are planned for Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Coffeyville. 

The family will be available to greet friends and family from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, at St. Paul’s.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan’s honor may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Altar Guild or to Coffeyville Community College Foundation’s Dr. David Bumgarner Scholarship Fund.  Memorials may be left with the funeral home.

Jim G. Wilson age 80 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on June 15, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his family by his side.

 On September 1, 1942, Jimmie Gene “Jim” Wilson was born in Coffeyville, Kansas to Charles Edward “Ed” and Elsie Marie (Russell) Wilson.  Jim’s big brothers were Fred and Ronnie.

 Jim grew up attending Coffeyville schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1960.  During his high school years, he was on the swim team, was a Golden Glove Boxer, president of the Boys Club and played baseball; he was an excellent pitcher.  The St. Louis Cardinals were actively pursuing Jim, but because of a pitching injury it eliminated his chances of going pro. His high school days also included dating a beautiful young girl, Frances “Punkin” Trimble.  Just a few days after their graduation on May 29, 1960, they were married in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Together they shared 57 wonderful years together before her passing in 2017. The couple not only married in Coffeyville, but they also even Honeymooned in Coffeyville, little did they know that their lives would involve multiple moves and extensive travels. Jim's job involved travel and in the last 25 years of employment he was blessed with Punkin being able to travel with him; together taking every opportunity of free time to enjoy the sites in the area. They truly enjoyed their time together. Jim was a loving and a dedicated husband, he loved Punkin almost more than life it’s self he was deeply saddened when she passed away.

Jim and Punkin were blessed with two daughters: Tammy Marie and Jamie Sue.  Jim was such a good dad, he loved his girls, he took every opportunity to teach them life lessons in the most practical terms. He encouraged them to be the best they could be at everything they did.  He wanted them to pursue their dreams in life and in their career choices, and not to accept anything less.  His baseball days were over, but he used those skills to become the perfect softball coach for his girls.  This was truly a family affair, Jim coached, Punkin kept the stats, and the girls took the field.

Jim was a self-accomplished aerospace engineer.  He began his career in 1968 as a draftsman at North American Rockwell in Tulsa, Oklahoma; tool design was his specialty.  In 1972 he moved his family to Abilene, Texas to work at Automation Industries until 1981.  Jim and his family then moved back to Tulsa where he turned to Rockwell to become the project manager over the Challenger Space Shuttle.  In 1986 the opportunity of becoming a part of the design team for the Stealth B2 Bomber moved Jim and his family back to Texas where he began working for Northup.  Jim was an excellent leader; he was always mindful that it took everyone and each of their positions to make the business successful. No one position was more important than another. 

After he retired from Aerospace, he wasn’t content with not working.  Jim was known for dotting his I’s and crossing his T’s and for keeping a tight budget.  With those skills he became the CEO for UMI in Haskell, Oklahoma; President for Southwestern United Industries and several other companies where he was a Turnaround Specialist. He helped companies go from being in the red to becoming a lucrative company again.

Jim was a frugal man, he always made sure he had what his family needed, was extravagant in many ways and tight as the bark on a tree in many more.  He always made sure he had what he needed and often time the “what he needed” meant that he might have 3 or 4 of the same things, whether it was a tool or a part to have on hand just in case something came up.

Jim’s world was completely turned upside down the day that Punkin passed away, he was deeply grief stricken and mourned her passing. God knew that Jim needed someone with which to share life with.  God provided just that. Jim reconnected with his and Punkin’s classmate Patricia (Majors) Polk-Marlow, which he was years ago supposed to take to a junior high dance. She couldn’t go because she broke her leg roller skating.  Pat had lost her husband in March of 2017 and after a few years Pat and Jim were reunited.  On June 16, 2020, Jim and Pat were married, making their home in Coffeyville, enjoying each other’s company, and sharing life together. Jim felt it was a blessing to have two of the best women he knew as his wives.  It was truly God’s handy work that brought them together, they were each other’s life savers.

Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as an ornery, funny, caring man that paid attention to the details.  He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home.  He is also survived by his daughters Tammy Wilson-Leist and husband Joe, Jamie Sue Blake-Turner, grandchildren Jamie Leist, Bobby Blake, Gary Blake, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; Pat’s children Lori Bromley and husband Mike, Eddie Polk and wife Jill, Becky Overton and husband Kolby, Pat’s grandchildren  Whitley Verratti and husband Eric, Joshua Bromley and wife Aricka, Matthew Bromley and wife Cali, Colton Hambleton and wife Jordan, Caleb Bromley, Nichole Woods and husband Shae, and Courtney Hambleton, Pat’s 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.  In addition to Punkin, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Fred Marang and Ronnie Marang.

Funeral services for Jim will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel located at 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, Kansas.  Jim will be laid to rest in Robbins Cemetery following the service next to his late wife Punkin.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 5 to 7pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.  Jim’s family have requested memorial contributions to be made payable to St. Judes Children's Hospital in Jim's memory and may be left in care of the chapel.  Visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel;.com

Donald "Don" R. Martin, a humble and loving man, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his home at the age of 65. Born on November 12, 1957, in Coffeyville, Kansas to James "Bud" and Rachel (Graves) Martin. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School and attending Coffeyville Community College. Don spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was a thoughtful and devoted husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

While in high school and college Don was active in the music department. In high school he played trumpet in the marching band and sang in the choir and a vocal group. At the college he sang and played the baritone in the marching band.

He married Mary McDonald, and they had three daughters, Angi, Amber, and Ashley. They were later divorced.

Don married his beloved wife, Deborah "Debbie" J. McElroy, on June 5, 1987, in Dodge City, Kansas and gained two more daughters, together they built a life filled with love and laughter. He was employed as a Sheet Metal Assembler at Cessna Aircraft Company, where he demonstrated the same dedication and hard work that he gave to his family and friends. In his free time, Don enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, smoking meat, and gardening. His love for nature was evident to all who knew him.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville all of his life, he was very active in the young people's groups and sang in the church choir for many years.

Don is survived by his wife, Debbie of the home, his daughters, Angi Womeldorff and husband, Matt of Augusta, Kansas, Amber Parker and husband, Shawn of Coffeyville, Ashley Woods and husband, Kent of Cache, Oklahoma, Jenni Ploger and husband, Todd of Deerfield, Kansas, and Amber Clark and husband, Brad of Westwood, Kansas, his mother, Rachel Martin of Coffeyville, his sister Sheila Lander and husband, Don of Nixa, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Lori Martin of Pittsburg, Kansas,  twelve grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James "Bud" Martin, and brother, Jim Martin.

Joan Cerny Mills age 84 of Bartlesville, Ok former resident of Coffeyville, Ks. went to be with the Lord on June 8th, 2023. Her family was by her side at Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Hospital.  

Joan (Jody) was born to Clifford and Frenia Cerny on February 28, 1939, in Coffeyville, Ks. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1957 and attended Coffeyville Community College. 

Joan met the love of her life, Larry Britt Mills on the running track where Larry accidentally ran into her knocking her down. They officially met and started dating when Larry came into her place of employment, Coffeyville Laundry and Dry Cleaners. The couple married on October 26, 1958 at the Frist United Methodist Church where they were members and were involved in the homebuilders bible study club. 

Joan will be remembered for her beautiful infectious smile, her steadfast love and dedication to her family. She was selfless, loyal, loving and forgiving. In her younger years she greatly enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family. She enjoyed playing in bridge clubs and family picnics and she and Larry enjoyed square dancing.

Later in life her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, watching movies, reading, cooking for family gatherings, Pepsi runs and keeping up with current and political events with her husband. 

Her parents Clifford and Frenia Cerny and brother Ron Cerny all of Coffeyville precede her in death.

Joan is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Larry Mills of the home. Her sisters, Kathy Williams and husband Rex. Jackie Waddell and husband Danny of Coffeyville. She is also survived by her 5 loving daughters. Terri Stoops, Kristi Martin, Rhonda Pauls and husband Mike, Stacey Mills-Baker and husband Clint, Stephanie Adame and husband Sal.  She left behind 22 grandchildren. Christopher Daugherty, Ashley Williams, Logan Martin, Zachary Mills, Tyler Pauls, Skyler Martin, Tayler Pauls, Alex Galindo, Sydney Mills, Kelsie Carr, Savanna Storkson, Hunter Stoops, Jordan Stoops, Brooklyn Martin, Tatum Pauls, Riley Adame, Harley Mills-Baker, Hayden Mills-Baker, Gavin Mills-Baker, Eli Adame, Isaac Adame and Ian Adame. She had 10 great grandchildren. Haven Myers, Hydin Mills, Averie Willmoth, Braxton Galindo, Anistynn Galindo, Atlas Mills, Syrus Williams, Kade Pauls, Aubry Pauls, Mack Woods and expecting precious twins in the fall.  Joan loved her family fiercely and will be immensely missed until her family is reunited with her in Heaven. 

Joan was the rock of her large family and the bond that united them. She will live on through their many memories. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives that she touched. 

Funeral Services for Joan will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Noon at First United Methodist Church, 304 W 10th St, Coffeyville, KS 67337; the family will receive friends from 11 am until service time on Thursday.  Pastors Yves Kinangwa and Tyler Neighbors will be officiating.   Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Veterans Patio following the services.  The family will privately lay Joan to rest in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery following the Graveside Service. Mrs. Donna Jean Hand, 83, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, in Broken Arrow.

 Mrs. Hand was born in Webster City, Iowa on May 4, 1940, the daughter of Erma Long and Lewis Madison.  She received her education at Webster City Schools. She was married to Delvin Everett Hand in Webster City, Iowa on January 13, 1957. They made their home in Newton, Iowa until 1974, Enid, Oklahoma from 1974 until 1980, Coffeyville, Kansas from 1980 until 2008 when they moved to Bartlesville. Mrs. Hand raised the couple's four children, then worked as a Certified Nurses Aide. She loved God and was active at Tyro Christian Church, then East Bartlesville Christian Church. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, creating baby quilts, and spending time with her children and their families.

 Survivors include her four children, Delvin Everett “Buddy” Hand Jr and wife Vicki of Tyro, Kansas, Lori Lea (Hand) Barlow of Ballwin, Missouri, Debbie Jean (Hand) Waken and husband Wally of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mark Alan Hand and wife Nikki of Webb City, Missouri, seven grandsons and four granddaughters, William Barlow, Bailey (Barlow) Bolinger, Kyle Hand, Robert James Waken, Charles Waken, Evan Hand, Aimee (Hand) Vogele, Hannah (Hand) McKibben, Mikayla Hand, Zackary Hand and David Hand, eleven great-grandchildren, and one brother-in-law, Gordon Wheeler of Marion, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Rosetta Donaldson and Melva Jones, son-in-law, Mark Barlow, and grandson, Michael Barlow.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Hand will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Robbins Cemetery in Dearing, Kansas with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating.

Visitation will be held at David W. Allene Doris Knedlik,a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed from this life at home in Gamaliel, Arkansas on May 26th, 2023 at the age of 74. Allene was born on April 9, 1949 to Herbert and Doris George in Coffeyville, Kansas and grew up there, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her.

In 1967 she graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School and spent one year at Coffeyville Community College. In 1968, Allene married Ronald Knedlik and together they embarked on a journey that took them to Lawrence, Kansas, where she attended University of Kansas part time. A move to Tulsa, Oklahoma followed, where she attended the University of Tulsa for one year. Moving on to Terlton and later Yale, Oklahoma, she attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1972. The couple later relocated to Midland, Texas, where their children, Sarah and Matt were born. Afterward, pursuing opportunities, their family moved to Eagle River, Alaska, where their youngest child, Rebekah, was born. In 1978, they decided to return to their home in Kansas. Allene dedicated her time to raising her children before starting substitute teaching for a few years in Caney and Coffeyville, Kansas. She began full-time work as Director of Adult Basic Education at Coffeyville Community College and later as the Dean of Academic Affairs. Allene worked at Coffeyville Community College for 13 years before leaving to become Vice President at Neosho County Community College. While working, she attended Pittsburg State University for her Master of Science degree in 1987 and continuing her education, she graduated with a PhD from Kansas State University in 2003. She retired from work in 2007 as the Vice President from Allen County Community College.

Allene was a woman of unwavering principles and remarkable character. She was deeply committed to her faith and an active member of the Church of Christ, devoting over 50 years to teaching children, ladies' classes and eagerly volunteering wherever help was needed.

During their retirement years, Allene and Ron built their own home on her great grandparent's original homestead in Gamaliel, Arkansas. Allene enjoyed cooking and baking with her granddaughters and watching all the grandkids play sports over the years. She also enjoyed the experience of gardening, canning and dehydrating fruits and vegetables in Alaska, Kansas and Arkansas.

Allene D. Knedlik will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, strength and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Services for Allene will be held on Friday, June 2nd at 2:00 pm at Roller Funeral Home, Mountain Home, AR. Services will also be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 am at Coffeyville Church of Christ in Coffeyville, KS, a family graveside service will follow.

Allene is survived by husband, Ron of the home; daughter, Sarah Staton and son-in-law, John and grandchildren, Lily, Benjamin and Grace; daughter, Rebekah Manuel and son-in-law, Kelly and grandchildren, Paige and Kole and son, Matthew Knedlik; sister-in-law, Linda George and nieces, Cynthia Weston, Misti Secrest and Melinda Henry.
