Anita A. Mangan

Anita A. Mangan, age 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at her home. 

 

Anita was born on October 1, 1931, in Walnut Grove, Tennessee to Alfred Presley and Dora Lillian (McDaniel) Smith.  On December 16, 1956, she married the love of her life, James L. Mangan in Huntington Beach, California.  Of their union, five children were born.  James preceded her in death on July 1, 1974.  After his passing, Anita moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where she has resided since. 

 

Anita was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Altar Society, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  Her hobbies included word search puzzles, plants and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. 

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Donald Mangan and wife Vicky of Virginia Beach, Virginia, James Mangan, Jr. and wife Tana of Independence, Kansas, Todd Mangan of Coffeyville, Kansas and Pamela Mangan of Coffeyville, Kansas; stepdaughter, Jackie Mangan Wright of Wichita, Kansas, daughter-in-law, Chris Mangan of Independence, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended family and friends.  In addition to her husband, James Mangan, Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Smith and Dora Bailey, her son, John Mangan and her sister, Lee Johnson. 

 

The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville prior to the funeral service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father James Schibi officiating. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas.

 

Friends may call on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.

Mary Francis Fricke,

Mary Francis Fricke, 84, of Coffeyville passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Medicalodge Coffeyville on Midland.

 

She was born on June 1, 1940, in Chetopa, Kansas, to Edward and Georgia (Bates) Doherty.  Mary grew up and attended school in Chetopa graduating from Chetopa High School.

 

On June 17, 1973, she married James "Jim" Fricke at Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, with stints in Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas City before she returned to Coffeyville in 2000. Mary had a deep passion for sewing and embroidering, talents she honed into a thriving embroidery business during her time in Kansas City. Her greatest joy being with her family who she cherished more than anything.

 

Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Fricke, of the home, her children, Cindy King, Lisa Mars, and Jimmy Fricke. She also leaves behind her siblings, Ed Doherty and Norma Swank. Her legacy of love continues through her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Georgia Doherty, her sons Jackie Fricke and Danny Fricke, an infant daughter, two brothers and three sisters.

 

Following Mary's wishes cremations has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  No services are scheduled at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville.

Sonia D. Larimore

Sonia D. Larimore, age 59, went home to her Lord and Savior, on November 16, 2024, at her home in Coffeyville, KS.

 

Sonia was born on August 18, 1965 in Wabash, IN to Don Hurd and Carol (Smith) Nielson. She grew up in Paradise Valley, AZ and graduated from Lenapah, OK in 1983. She studied at OU, Business Administration/Management and at Coffeyville Community College Human Resources Management and at Bartlesville Wesleyan graduating in 1998.

 

On May 27, 1994 Sonia married the love of her life, Rod, her husband of 30 years, in Tempe, AZ.

 

Sonia worked at Bones Steak House, Windsor Place at Home Care, Independence, KS, Guest Home Estates, Erie, KS, Assisted Living at Windsor Place and Grand Villas both in Coffeyville and Windsor Place working as a Telehealth Coordinator in their nursing home Without Walls Program.

 

Sonia loved working at the Assisted Living facilities, and was always making sure the residents’ time at Assisted Living was full of living life with as much fun as possible. Volunteering at First Southern Baptist Church was a passion of hers. She was also a member of Rotary and really enjoyed the RYLA program as well as their wheelchairs for disabled children program. She always took time to help others, listening to them or helping them in some way. Sonia’s legacy of love for the Lord, her kindness and compassion for others will forever live in our hearts..

 

Sonia is survived by her husband Rod and their 3 standard poodles: Boomer, Curly and Buddy all of the home. Parents Don and Cindy Hurd, South Coffeyville, OK, Bill and Carol Nielson, Tempe, AZ, sons, Jared Larimore, Oklahoma City, OK, Cody (Laura) Larimore, Independence, KS and bonus daughter Lacie Sisco, Coffeyville, KS. Grandchildren Jozlynn Gray, Makenna Larimore, Dutch Long, Parslee Sevver and bonus grandson, Sherrick Rogers. Sister Destony (Kerby) Larimore, South Coffeyville, OK, 3 stepbrothers and 3 stepsisters, brother-in-law, Dave (Marla) Larimore, Coffeyville, KS, sister-in-law Debbie (Eldon) Woods, Independence, KS and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

A Memorial service will be held under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10am at First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 W 8th St, Coffeyville, KS with Pastor Matt Friese officiating. The family is requesting memorial contributions to benefit the organizations that Sonia was passionate about. Contributions can be made payable to: First Southern Baptist Church (memo note Benevolence Fund), Rotary RYLA Scholarship Fund, Coffeyville Friends of Animals, Pawz 4 Hope or Harry Hynes Hospice. Charles Boyd Thomas

Charles Boyd Thomas, 73, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at his home.

 

He was born on October 10, 1951, in Coffeyville at Coffeyville Regional Hospital to Boyd and Zelma (Strader) Thomas.  He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville attending Longfellow, Roosevelt and Field Kindley High School graduating in 1969. He attended Coffeyville Junior College and graduated from Vo-Tech school in 1971, where he learned his trade as a Draftsman. In his youth he loved woodworking, drawing, painting, riding bikes and fish. Before getting married he worked at Velma & Jack’s Tavern.

 

He married Vicki D. Blake on June 19, 1976. They were married for 48 years when she passed away on July 20, 2024. She was the love of his life, as he was hers. They had one daughter Tabitha born on December 28, 1978. Charles was proud of his daughter, who graduated from Field Kindley High School, Coffeyville Community College with honors and Pittsburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in business, and later continued her education receiving her master’s degree. Tabitha inherited Charles’ drawing talent and love of fishing.

 

Charles worked at Halliburton, Jensen's, Aptus, TCI of Bartlesville, the City of Coffeyville, and Amazon.

 

He is survived by his daughter Tabitha Thomas and partner Missy Baird of Roland, Oklahoma, two nephews Jerry D. Thomas and Shawn W. Thomas; three sisters-in-law Rita Whittington, Sherrie Pauzauskie and Denise Yeubanks whom he loved as sisters.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Vicki, his parents Boyd and Zelma, and brother Jerry W. Thomas.

 

Following Charles’ wishes, cremation will take place and no service is planned at this time.

Mary Lou Frost,

Mary Lou Frost, 82, of Coffeyville passed away on Monday, November 6, 2024, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

 

She was born on October 10, 1942, in Coffeyville, to Frank and Louise (Hannah) Foster.  Mary grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School.

 

In 1964 she married Richard Frost, they had three children Jimmie, Richard II, and Sheryl. When the children were older the couple divorced.

 

Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her passion for floristry and her dedication to her family were the cornerstones of her life.

 

Mary was known for her creativity and craftsmanship as a floral designer. Throughout her career, she contributed her talent to several local businesses including Jan-L's Floral, Edgewood Floral, and Hasselman Florist. Her love for working with flowers was not simply a job, but a hobby that brought joy to her life and beauty to the homes of many in Coffeyville. Mary's work was more than just arranging flowers, it was a testament to her artistic spirit and the love she had for her community.

 

Mary is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Terry) Grier, and son, Jimmie Frost. She was a proud grandmother to Brittney Frost, Derek Frost, Tabitha Grier, and Terry Grier. Mary's legacy continues with her great-grandchildren; Kinsley DeIvernois, Vayda DeIvernois, Addison Frost, and Weston Frost. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Louise Foster; her brothers, Homer, John, Jimmy, David, and Ed Foster; sisters, Audrey Budd, Margie Rowe, Sara Coy; and son, Richard II. She held a special place in her heart for each of her family members and was overjoyed to watch her family grow and flourish.

 

Following Mary's wishes cremation has taken place under the directions of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A memorial service celebrating her life will be announced at a later date.

 

Memorials in Mary's memory are suggested to Coffeyville Friends of Animals; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
