June Anne Shearer, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at CRMC in Coffeyville.

Born on November 4, 1968, in Rockford, Illinois, June was the daughter of William James Riding and Jo Ann (Key) Harding. The family later relocated to Parsons, Kansas, where June attended grade school alongside her siblings and graduated from Parsons High School. During her high school years, she was a cheerleader and continued cheering while earning her associate’s degree from Coffeyville Community College.

June dedicated the past 28 years to serving as a substitute teacher within the Coffeyville Schools. Prior to that, she operated an in-home daycare for several years, demonstrating her deep commitment to children and their well-being.

In her leisure time, June enjoyed trips to the casino with her daughter, Markenzie, and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and special nieces, Abby and Laci. She was known for her unwavering love and nurturing spirit toward her family. June also had a fondness for her dogs and embraced a fun and playful personality, often striking up conversations and making friends wherever she went. She was known as the life of the party and was always willing to help others despite her own limitations.

June shared a long-term relationship with Robert Daily. While no longer a couple, they remained close friends and treasured their travels and vacations together.

She is survived by her children, Whitney Grier and Markenzie Overton; her grandchildren Wyatt, Payton, Titan, Kaira, Ziva, Zaydan, Sahara, Bryleigh, LaKai, and Marquise Jr.; her sisters Mary Noland (and husband George), Betty Nelson, Janie Hawk, and Tammy Robinson (and husband Levi); and her friend Robert Daily.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery, where June will be laid to rest alongside her mother, Jo Ann. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel to assist with June’s final expenses. Contributions may be left in care of the chapel. Joyce Ann Finney, aged 84, of Niotaze, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at CRMC in Coffeyville, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Olathe, Colorado, Joyce was the youngest of seven children born to Ernest Clarence and Dollie Ann (Wade) Barr, with a remarkable nineteen-year gap between her and the next youngest sibling. She spent her early years in Olathe, where her father managed a skating rink and coal business, before moving with her family to Delta, where she completed her high school education. Joyce carried her love for music into her college years at Pasadena College (now Point Loma Nazarene University) in Pasadena, California, captivating audiences as she played piano and sang with various traveling groups, often performing on the radio.

After college, Joyce settled in Denver, where she worked in several roles and met the love of her life, Kyle Finney. They were united in marriage on June 6, 1964, at the Englewood Nazarene Church in Englewood, Colorado. Their journey together took them to various homes, in, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado , before they returned to Niotaze, Kansas—Kyle’s hometown—a place Joyce once jested she would never choose to live but ultimately came to cherish deeply.

Transitioning from city life to the rhythms of farm living, Joyce embraced the rural lifestyle alongside Kyle. Together, they raised cattle, chickens, horses, and cared for barn cats and dogs. She found joy and fulfillment in flower gardening and cultivating a vibrant collection of iris varieties that blossomed in her expansive yard.

Music remained a heartfelt part of Joyce’s life. She generously shared her talent by playing piano for her church, organizing numerous musical programs and musicals, and supporting funeral dinners with grace and dedication. After returning to Niotaze, she became the beloved matriarch of her family, thoughtfully coordinating family reunions that strengthened bonds and created lasting memories.

Despite facing health challenges that limited her physically, Joyce’s spirit and commitment never waned. She continued to serve her community through volunteer work and civic duties, embodying resilience, and kindness. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joyce was known for her warm hospitality and remarkable culinary skills, delighting her family with home-cooked meals and baked treats. Later in life, she embraced a new passion as an interior designer, where her innate talent for harmonizing color, style, and comfort was evident—not only in the homes she transformed but also in her own elegant personal style.

Joyce’s loving legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Kyle; her son, Jeff Finney; her daughter, Judith Davis, and her husband, Jerry; and her cherished grandchildren Braden Finney, Landon Finney, Nathaniel Davis, and Shawn Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1 p.m. until service time. Following the service, Joyce will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze. Rachel Ann Trisler, 52, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Wednesday, April 8, 2026. She was born February 7, 1974, in Laverne, Oklahoma.  Her family moved to Olathe, Kansas, where they lived for several years before eventually moving to Coffeyville in 1989.  She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1992.  Rachel worked for Westside Daycare Center during this time.  In 1993, she began working for Coffeyville Taco Mayo, where she worked until her death.  This job allowed her to pursue what she truly loved--helping people learn about God.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1988, and beginning March 1, 1992, she began her full-time ministry.  She volunteered many hours each month to teaching those in the community about God's promises for the future.

Rachel is survived by her mother, Kathleen Trisler, and sisters Chris Stacey and Gretchen (David) Sandoval, all of Coffeyville.  She is also survived by two brothers, Nathan (Mileivi) Trisler, of Carmichael, California and Joshua (Celia) Trisler of Bellevue, Nebraska. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews--Sydney Brinker, Jonah, Noah and Jayelle Trisler, Emma and David Sandoval as well as great niece Katy Brinker.  She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Trisler, and brother-in-law, Tom Stacey.

Following Rachel’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Anita Sue Smith, age 63, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at CRMC.  

Anita was born on September 24, 1962, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Howard Smith, Sr. and Katherine Mae (Bruce) Smith.  She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools.  She worked various jobs throughout her life including as a dietary aide at the hospital and at Rita’s Café, Shirley’s Café and Lanning’s.  In recent years Anita has spent most of her days helping raise her granddaughter, Selena.  Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family.  

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, John (Crystal) Benefiel, Jr. Jeremy Muller, Neka Hall; grandchildren, Dylan (Tatyana) Benefiel, Paige (Matt) Hanna, Cheyenne Benefiel, Austin (Emma) Benefiel, Garret (Corynn) Hanna, Logan Benefiel, Selena Hall, Zachary Fruzza; siblings, Howard (Jody) Smith, Jr., Joe (Sheri) Smith, Toby (Marilyn) Smith, Robbie Smith, Nancy Reeves along with numerous extended family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Smith, Sr. and Katherine (Bruce) Nalley; sisters, Diana Ryan, Melissa Smith; brothers, Timothy Smith and Bradley Smith.

Herman Dwayne Drews, age 78, formerly of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Known for his love for family and racing, Herman led a life full of passion and joy, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Herman was born on January 12, 1948, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Herman C. and Elizabeth (Pugh) Drews.  Herman spent his early years in South Coffeyville and attended school in Lenapah, Oklahoma, graduating from Lenapah High School.  He went on to attend the Spartan College of Aeronautics Technology in Tulsa.  Herman proudly served in the United States Air Force.  He dedicated many years of his life to his work as a lead mechanic with the Electrical Power Company, PSO in Oklahoma from where he retired.

On June 9, 1984, he married his beloved wife, Sylvia, and together they built a beautiful life, first on a family farm in rural South Coffeyville, and later, from 2007, at their home on Grand Lake in Afton, Oklahoma.  Herman was a man of simple pleasures.  He found joy in working with cars, traveling, and most of all, in attending races at Lucas Oil Raceway in Wheatland, Missouri.  His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and his family was the cornerstone of his existence.  Herman enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma and Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.  

Surviving to honor his memory is his loving wife, Sylvia Drews of the home; children, David (Tisha) Drews of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Darrick (Shawna) Drews of Independence, Kansas, Ryan (Dana) Reiman of Kinsley, Kansas, Anne (Eric) Batten of Iowa City, Iowa, Trevor (Kristyn) Reiman of Wann, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dylan Drews, Brendan Reiman, Chandler Reiman, Andrew Batten, Natalie Drews, Izabel Batten, Macyn Reiman, Aiden Drews, John Reiman, Samson Reiman, Dawsyn Reiman; brother, Norman Drews of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; sister, Lumonia Davis of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma along with numerous extended family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman C. Drews and Elizabeth (Pugh) Drews; sisters, Anita Compston, Delores Dean and Pat Hill.  

Following Herman’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Doug Mund will officiate.

Barbara J. Bush, of Caney, Kansas passed away at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 88.

She was born on November 2, 1937, in Major County, Oklahoma near Fairview to Winfield Stillman and Wilma Ica (Cinnamon) Browning. Barbara spent her early years in Major County where she attended Cheyenne school, her family later moved to the Hulah, Oklahoma where she attended school, she completed her education in Copan, Oklahoma graduating from Copan High School, where she was an star basketball player and cheerleader during her high school years.

Barbara married Dean Bush on September 22, 1956, at Caney, Kansas. Following their marriage, they made their home in rural Caney for 70 years, Barbara was a beloved member of her community and a treasured pillar of her family. Barbara and Dean were longtime members of Tyro Christian Church and the JOY Group. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara's infectious spirit and unwavering faith were the cornerstones of her life.

Barbara was a dedicated bookkeeper before her retirement, working at Automotive Control Corp. in Independence, Kansas, at the Pallet Company and Lee Fobian for over 30 years, and Caney Valley National Bank for 10 years until retiring. Her love for numbers was only surpassed by her love for her family and her church. Outside of her work and family life, Barbara had a passion for camping, word search puzzles, and sharing daily scriptural texts with her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her adoring husband, Dean Bush; and her children, Teresa (Aaron) Rau and Gregg (Barbara) Bush, Brad (Traci) Bush; her grandchildren, Jason (Maria) Rau, Crystal Rau, Dustin Rau, Shaun Bush, Ryan (Erin) Bush, Corey Bush, Bailey (Jonathon) Beck, and Riley Bush; and her great-grandchildren, Seth Rau, Shay Rau, Charli Bush, Rhett Bush, Wyatt Bush, Lillie Bush, Colter Bush, and Kayson Beck. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Donna) Browning, and sister-in-law Betty Browning; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Wilma Browning; her infant daughter Dawn Larrie Bush; and her brothers Stanley and Ray Browning; two nephew, and one niece.

A visitation with the family greeting friends will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tyro Christian Church, 301 South Market Street, Tyro, Kansas, 67364. The funeral service will also be held at the Tyro Christian Church on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with David Bycroft and Allan Swinson officiating.

Ivan Eugene "Mean Gene" Hannah, 74, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to the outdoors.

Ivan was born on August 6, 1951, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Ivan B. Hannah and Frances Louise (Keeling) Hannah. He grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School, where he built the foundation for a life defined by dedication and grit.

Ivan worked as a welder and retired from Watco, where he took pride in repairing railroad cars.

Outside of work, Ivan found his greatest peace in the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, and those who knew him best understood that this was where he felt most at home-quietly enjoying nature in his own way.

He is survived by his children: Doug Hannah and his wife Tina, and their daughter Zoe and her husband Lane; Steve Hannah and his wife Melissa, and their son Tyler and his wife Alexis, and their daughter Kylie and her husband Blake.

He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Colt Hannah, Wyatt Hannah, Cohen Davis d Blakely Davis, with two more great-grandchildren expected soon.

Ivan is also survived by his brothers, David Hannah and his wife Linda, and Tim Hannah; as well as his niece, Isabella Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan B. Hannah and Frances Louise Hannah, and his wife, Carol Hannah.

Ivan will be remembered as a man who lived life on his own terms-strong-willed, hardworking, and deeply rooted in the simple things he loved most. Known to many as "Mean Gene," he certainly earned the nickname, often saying exactly what was on his mind whether you were ready to hear it or not. He could be tough around the edges and more than a little stubborn, but those who knew him best understood there was more beneath the surface-and that his way of caring didn't always come wrapped in soft words.

He showed up for his family in his own way, and his presence-unforgettable and unmistakably his- will be missed. His stories, his grit, and yes, even that famous stubborn streak (that lives on in more than a few family members) will continue to bring both smiles and memories for years to come.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Barbara Jo Davis, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, peacefully at home in Neodesha, Kansas.  

Barbara was born on June 26, 1959, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Glen and Lois (Eden) Durst.  After graduating high school, she spent many years in service of others providing home healthcare.  Her love of family was her greatest attribute.  She was the rock of the family who gave the best advice and support.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Everett Neil Davis, of the home; mother, Lois Durst; daughter, Christi Heatly and husband, Rick of Cherryvale, Kansas; son, Derek Davis and wife, Kimberly of Cherryvale, Kansas; grandchildren, Taylor Davis, Jayden Ross, Lizzy, Nick, Becca Heatly, Bentley, Alec, Joei, Evelynn, and TyLeigh Davis; great-grandchildren, Kairi Wilkinson and Oakley River Rose. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Durst; daughter, JanNeil Davis-Clarkson and sister, Nancy Finney.
