Edna Reba Williamson

Edna Reba Williamson (Hosfelt) was born December 20, 1930 to George W Hosfelt and Della J Hosflet (Jones) in Kansas City Missouri. Edna lived in the Kansas City area until the age of 10. Her family then moved to Centerville Missouri and later to Parsons Kansas. Edna held many jobs during her life, waitress, card sorter for Hallmark and florist, to name a few. But the one she longed for and loved most was being a mother. Edna always said her greatest accomplishments were her children and the biggest testament to her success as a mother is shown in the incredible love and respect her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren had for her.

During the winter of 1947, at an American Legion Dance in Parsons Ks, Edna meet the love of her life, Kenneth. He proposed on Easter Sunday March 28th, 1948, and they were married on Father’s Day, June 20, 1948.

In 1955 Edna and Kenneth bought a farm in Edna, Kansas. There they welcomed their son, Leon, and daughter, Vickie. In 1963 they moved to Coffeyville where they later welcomed their daughter, Toni.

In 1969 Edna worked alongside her husband and they opened H&W Appliance in Coffeyville. In March 2010 they went from appliance sales and service to a tool and secondhand store. Edna and Kenneth closed the shop in 2014 and moved to Broken Arrow Ok.

Edna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was heartbroken when she lost the love of her life, Kenneth, in May of 2020. It was her joy and great love of being with her family that kept her going after his death. Family was everything to Edna and she loved and lived for the times they came to visit. She loved listening to her family talk, tell stories, laugh, and if someone found something they liked to eat in the kitchen or pantry, aka store house, she was delighted.

After Kenneth’s passing Edna emersed herself in the Word of God. She read and studied the Bible daily and refused to allow her failing eyesight keep her from God’s Word. Before she would open her Bible to read, she would ask Jesus to help her see. He never failed and would give her 20 to 30 mins of clear eyesight. Edna not only enjoyed reading God’s word but also watching her favorite pastors on TV and listening to her gospel music. She was not ashamed of her relationship with Jesus. Edna would tell everyone her buddies Holy Spirit and Jesus were with her and she was good at reminding her family that they needed to talk to Jesus, believe and have faith! Edna loved the Lord.

On July 30, 2025 Edna passed from this earth at her daughter's home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma surrounded by her family and friends.

Edna was not afraid to die. She knew it would be hard on those she left but she was excited about seeing Jesus and her loved ones that had gone before her.

Edna is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents, two brothers, Ernest, Bud and John, and a son -n- law Ted Reid.

Edna is survived by her son Leon and wife Pam. Daughters Vickie Reid, Toni Johnson, and husband Ken, six grandchildren, Barbara and husband Jeff, Leon, Susan and husband Will, Sarah and husband Jake, Hope and Peggy, nine great grandchildren, Wesliann, Reid, Izabella, Colton, Nathan, Jaxon, Sadie, Kimberlee and Hudson, one brothers Emmett and several nephews and nieces.

"I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Fishing, fur trapping, quail and deer hunting, farming, and gardening —- these were just a few of the ways Junior connected with the world around him.  His love for nature led him to unforgettable elk hunting adventures in Colorado with his dear friend Howard Overfield since 1975.  His green thumb was legendary, and he took great pride in growing watermelons, cantaloupes, and tomatoes that he sold locally, bringing joy to his community with each ripe, juicy bite.  His creative spirit led him to handcraft hundreds of deer antler knives, which he shipped nationwide and even as far as Russia.

Junior’s love story began on December 14, 1956, when he married the love of his life, Dorothy Shoaf, at the First Assembly of God Church in Parsons, Kansas.  The couple made their home in rural Independence, Kansas.  Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect, which set a wonderful example for their daughters.  To Junior, family was the heart of everything, the core that gave meaning to his existence.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Smith of the home; daughters, Janet Davidson of Independence, Kansas, Sharon Melander of Havana, Kansas, Linda Raggio and Bobby Hendricks of Adair, Oklahoma, Donna Bird and husband David of Independence, Kansas; grandchildren, Lea (Stephen) Sprague, Jeff Davidson, Sara (Mike) Owens, Mikelynn (Jeff) Allen, Kay (Bryan) Kelly, Mikel “Gus” Melander, Karlie Melander, Kit Bird and Tye Bird; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one due in October 2025; along with one niece and four nephews.  Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Smith, a sister, Mary Mae Lockwood and his granddaughter, Kandra Bird.
