Norman Dean Cooper went to be with Jesus at the age of 91, on September 23,2026 at his home south of Edna, KS in Craig County, Oklahoma, on the same farm where he lived almost all his life. He was born on the farm on January 5, 1935, during a snowstorm, to JR & Minnie Marvel Cooper. His brother Stanley was five years older, and ten years later his sister Carolyn arrived.

He attended school at Hawkins, south of Edna, Stoney Point, which was located on the farm, and then graduated from Edna High School.

Dean served his country for two years as a member of the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.  He was a tank mechanic and was well respected for his quality of work, even receiving a medal for good conduct.

He married the love of his life, Jeri Jeanette Wester, on December 31, 1955, when he had weekend leave from the Army.

Farming was his life’s work, raising mostly wheat and cattle. There were also years of hogs and chickens, and he did most of his own mechanic work, as well.

In addition to farming, Dean operated a bulldozer for parts of three decades. He always operated heavy equipment smoothly, like it was an extension of his own hands. He built ponds and waterways and cleared brush all around the area. He could drive down the road going anywhere and point out numerous ponds and dirt work he had done. 

Dean loved to tell stories about Army life and his bulldozing years, and enjoyed fishing on his farm ponds, most of which he built. He and Jeri would regularly go for rides around the farm in their side by side. He loved his family and enjoyed reading books to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, making each one feel special.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jeri, son Kenneth Cooper and wife Jeanine, daughter Kathy Penner and husband Bill, grandchildren Gregory, Nathan, Sarah, Rebecca, and spouses, six great grandchildren, and sister Carolyn Hutchens and husband Jim.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley.

William Oscar "Bill" aka “Bud” McClure, 91, of Coffeyville passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He was born on October 27, 1934, at the family home in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma to William Oscar and Pearl H. (Smith) McClure. Bill grew up in Nowata County and attended school in South Coffeyville completing his education at Lenapah High School in Lenapah, Oklahoma.

Bill married Donna Olmstead, on February 5, 1955, in Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, they made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma from 1955 until moving to rural Coffeyville in 1985. Bill's love for his family was his driving force, and he always made sure they knew how much they meant to him.

Bill and Donna were active in their churches and dedicated their lives to their faith and family. Known for his kind spirit and hardworking nature, Bill was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He began his sales career at Coffeyville Mill Supply before establishing his successful business, McClure Motors, in Coffeyville and later in South Coffeyville. Throughout his life, Bill was an active member of his community and a former member of the South Coffeyville Lions Club.

Bill was a man of many hobbies including fishing, wood carving, collecting pocketknives, and playing bluegrass music with the Verdigris Valley Blue Grass Boys.

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna McClure; his children, Donna Stoneburner and Tony McClure; his daughter and son-in-law, Janie (Kent) Bastian; his brother, Kenneth McClure; eight grandsons, Tracy (Paula) Stoneburner, Jimmy Battaglear, Jeff (Tina) Battaglear, Matthew (Micha) Bastian, Brian (Alisha) Bastian, Aaron Stoneburner, Justin (Ashleigh)Stoneburner, and Blake Lightcap; one granddaughter, Kelli (Kerry) James; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl McClure; his son, William III; his son-in-law, Gary Stoneburner; one great-grandchild, Baylor James; and his sisters, Nellie Oneslager, Christene Miller, Maxine Wilson, Beulah Wisely, and Jean Howard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Chapel, 312 Broadway Avenue in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Chyrel Feltner and Pastor Jimmy Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Louis Mitchell Easley, 65, of Coffeyville, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born on November 25, 1960, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Charles Louis and Dorothy Jaunita (Shamblin) Easley. Louis grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School.

A lifelong resident of Coffeyville, Louis went to work for the City of Coffeyville in 1978, in the wastewater department. He retired in 2024 as Superintendent of the Wastewater Department after many years of faithful service. Beyond his dedication to his work, Louis was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in fishing and hunting. He also spent many hours chopping and splitting wood and could fix anything mechanical, a skill he used generously to help others.

Louis is survived by his mother, Dorothy Eavenson, and step-father, Haskell Eavenson. He was a loving father to his sons, Mitchell and Elijah Easley, and his daughter, Elizabeth Battaglear. He was a proud grandfather to Michael Battaglear and Matthew Easley. Louis also leaves behind his sister, Laura Bodenhamer, and niece, Brandy Jordan. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Easley, and his grandson, Jacob Easley.

A funeral service celebrating Louis's life will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lighthouse Church of God, 920 Lewark St. in Coffeyville with Pastor Aaron Phillips of Skiatook Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.

Jeanne Marie Pringle, 89, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at her home.

She was born on March 20, 1937, in New Jersey to Nelson Ross and Louise Kay (Kingsley) Matthews. Jeanne grew up and attended school New Jersey, graduating from Neptune High School.

Jeanne served her country proudly in the United States Air Force before embarking on a career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and later in distribution.

In her leisure time, Jeanne enjoyed cooking and baking, often sharing her delicious creations with neighbors and friends. The joy of her life was her grandchildren, who she loved more than words can express.

Jeanne's memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her daughter Diane Pringle, her son and daughter-in-law Nelson and Elsa Pringle, her grandchildren Lorelei Pringle and Allen Pringle, her brother Nelson Ross Matthews, Jr., and her sister-in-law Betsy Matthews She is also survived by her best friend, Janet Klein. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Sr. and Louise Matthews, her son Quicey Pringle, and her brother, Robert Matthews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, south of Dennis, Kansas, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. with Chaplain Tom Scott officiating.

Pamela Sue McCullough, age 74, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas.  

Pam was born on September 12, 1952, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Chet and Shirley (Wadkins) Owen.  She grew up in Coffeyville where she graduated from Field Kindley High School.  Pam proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years, achieving the rank of Sergeant.  She earned the Good Conduct Medal, Commendation Medal and the Outstanding Unit Award.  

Pam was the proud mother of two boys, Christopher and Keith. She found no greater fulfillment in life than raising them to adulthood, watching them grow, and start families of their own.

Pam was a hard-working, caring, and compassionate woman who found deep fulfillment in her career as an ultrasound technician. She dedicated many years to serving the community at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center before transitioning to Labette County Medical Center in Parsons, where she continued her devoted work until her retirement in 2017.

Above all, Pam treasured the time spent surrounded by her family and friends. Whether she was lounging by the pool, tending to her yard, or gathered around the bonfire with the people she loved most, she was happiest in the company of others. Pam could rarely be seen wearing something not tie-dyed. She loved hummingbirds and daisies, black licorice and Oreo Blasts from Sonic.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her children, Christoper McCullough and wife, Bryanna of Edna, Kansas, Keith McCullough and wife, Amanda of Andover, Kansas; grandchildren, Blayne, Reece, Dawson, Landon and Madalynn McCullough, Trey and Kannon McCullough; brothers, Jim Owen of Coffeyville, Kansas, Bobby Owen and wife, Terri of Harrisonville, Missouri; sister, Lyndia Letterman and husband, Travis of Hutchinson, Kansas; special friends, Debby Brown of Coffeyville, Kansas, Lois Gilpin of Edna, Kansas, Matt and Sharon Smith of Van Buren, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Shirley Owen and sister-in-law, Julia "Julie" Owen.  

Following Pam’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Larry Dean Sallee, age 62, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at CRMC in Coffeyville.  

Larry was born on October 8, 1963, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Robert and Ruby (Sloan) Sallee.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended local schools, graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School.  

On February 11, 1984, he married the love of his life, Amy Lou Loffer at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.  They had two sons, Laramie and Wade, that they adored.  Larry took great pride in guiding and teaching his boys all the knowledge and wisdom he could offer.  For a few years Larry worked for his father’s construction business, but he found a career as a Knock Engine Operator at the Coffeyville Refinery where he worked in the lab for over 32 years until his retirement.  He was a member of the I.U.O.E. Local #123 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville where he and Amy attended for many years.  

Larry loved the outdoors, he would take his dog, Sage, for a ride every day in the side-by-side just moseying around. He enjoyed the times he took his grandsons fishing.  Most of all he loved the time he and Amy spent surrounded by their family and friends; celebrating all their achievements, big and small, spending the holidays together and sharing moments that his family will cherish for many years to come.  

Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Amy Sallee of the home; son, Laramie Sallee and wife, Billie and their children, Gunner, Gatlin and Triton Sallee all of Coffeyville; son, Wade Sallee and wife, Danielle and their children, Hayden and Lainey Sallee all of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; sisters, Sandra Henry of rural Liberty, Kansas, Marla Larimore and husband, David of Coffeyville, Kansas; lifelong best friend, Jim Wilson and wife, Karen and their daughters, Jamie and Kacie; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby Sallee and brother-in-law, Johnnie Henry.  

Family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Dick Smith will officiate.  Private family inurnment will take place at a later time at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Patricia "Pat" Diane Robertson, 91, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

She was born on March 3, 1935, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to George "G.W. Pete) and Helen (Henson) Easton. Pat grew up in Coffeyville, where she attended Lowell and McKinley Elementary Schools, Roosevelt Middle School, and Field Kindley High School graduating in 1953.

While attending Coffeyville Junior College she met R. Barry Robertson and they were

married on May 5, 1955, following their marriage they lived in Lawrence, Kansas while he attended the University of Kansas. Upon his graduation, the couple returned to Coffeyville, where Patricia would spend her life devoted to her family and community.

Patricia was an Administrative Assistant at Coffeyville Community College before her retirement. She was also a dedicated member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Altar Guild, Vestry, PEO, and Bridge Club. She had a passion for cooking, sewing, playing cards, and reading. Patricia's life was a testament to her love for her family, and her dedication to her community. She was known for her caring nature, her commitment to her work, and her unyielding love for her family.

She is survived by her sons Brian (Tammy) Robertson and David Robertson, her sisters Georgia Baker and Jane Owen, and her grandchildren Michael Gibbons and Autum Bowers. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Easton, her husband R. Barry Robertson, and her sister Edith Bell.

A memorial service celebrating Patricia’s life will be on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Mother Martha Maloy officiating. Following the service inurnment will be in The Chapel of Resurrection Columbarium at the church.

Patricia "Pat" Diane Robertson's life was filled with love, dedication, and a commitment to others. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Harold Glenn Thomas passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of family, service, education, athletics and community. Throughout his life, Harold touched countless lives as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, decorated athlete, coach, educator and veteran. His passion for basketball and dedication to the young people he coached and taught made a lasting impact on generations in the Coffeyville community. Harold will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former students and athletes, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Harold was born August 29, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Orville Andrew Thomas and Bertha George Thomas. He spent much of his life in Coffeyville, a community he proudly called home.

A gifted athlete from an early age, Harold graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville in 1950. During his high school basketball career, he was a three-year letterman, two-year starter and the team’s leading scorer his senior year. He earned All-SEK honors and served as co-captain in 1950.

Harold continued his basketball career at Coffeyville Community College, where he was a two-year starter and the team’s leading scorer during his sophomore season. His accomplishments earned him All-State and All-Kansas honors, and he served as co-captain in 1952.

His talent on the court took him even further. Harold competed against the Phillips 66 Oilers, the 1950 National Industrial Basketball League champions; the McPherson Globe Refiners All-Stars; the Marques Haynes All-Stars and Harlem Magicians; and Kansas City’s Chapel Touring All-Star Basketball Team. Basketball remained an important part of Harold’s life long after his playing days ended.

Harold’s commitment to service extended well beyond athletics. He served his country in the United States Army Artillery, attaining the rank of Captain.

Education became one of the defining callings of Harold’s life. After graduating from Coffeyville Community College in 1952, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in education from Pittsburg State University in 1955. He later earned a Master’s degree from Pittsburg State in 1965 and an Education Specialist degree in educational administration in 1983.

Harold dedicated 36 years to USD 445 as a coach, educator and school administrator before retiring in 1994. Throughout his career, he coached 25 All-SEK athletes, seven All-State athletes and one High School All-American. More important than the accolades, however, were the generations of students and athletes he taught, encouraged and influenced along the way.

His contributions to athletics and his community were recognized with his induction into the Field Kindley High School Hall of Fame. He was also involved with various educational and coaching associations, the Coffeyville Country Club and First Presbyterian Church. Away from work and basketball, Harold enjoyed golf, spending time with friends and family, and his involvement with the Interstate Classic, which was named in his honor. He was proud of his service as a veteran and remained deeply connected to the Coffeyville community throughout his life.

On August 30, 1953, Harold married Jackie McNabney at First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville. Together, Harold and Jackie built a life centered around family and shared more than seven decades of marriage.

Harold is survived by his four children, Dr. David Thomas and his wife, Sandy, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Debbie Baker of Derby, Kansas; Susan Lomshek and her husband, Matt, of Lawrence, Kansas; and Sarah Holbrooks of Lenexa, Kansas. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Mackenzie (Lomshek) Francisco and her husband, Corbin; Katie (Lomshek) Stroschein and her husband, Austin; Hunter Lomshek; Jake Holbrooks; Hannah Holbrooks; Ella Holbrooks; and Markley (Brock) Hyatt and her husband, Troy; as well as his four great-grandchildren, Oaklyn and River Hyatt, and Taytum and Cooper Francisco.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Thomas, his parents, Orville and Bertha Thomas; his brother, Dr. Larry Thomas; his sister, Rosalie Pennington and his son-in-law, Howard Holbrooks.

Harold’s life was one of achievement, but his legacy reaches far beyond awards, statistics and titles. He was a teacher and coach who believed in young people, a veteran who served his country, an athlete whose love of the game lasted a lifetime, and, above all, a devoted husband and family man. The lessons he taught, the relationships he built and the lives he influenced will continue to carry his memory forward for generations.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, September 14, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. A funeral service celebrating Harold’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m., also at First Presbyterian Church. A private burial for immediate family will follow the service. Following the burial, the family warmly invites friends and loved ones to gather at the Coffeyville Country Club at 12:00 p.m. for refreshments, fellowship, and a time to share memories and celebrate Harold’s life together.

Dan O’Conner, 75, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away September 2, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dan was born June 6, 1951, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to William Edgar O’Conner and Jennie Lee Spray O’Conner. Coffeyville was home to Dan throughout his life, and over the years he became a familiar face and a good friend to many.

Dan was a hardworking man who spent many working years at the Coffeyville refinery. He was also a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. If you knew Dan, you knew that family and friends meant something to him. He was the kind of man who would show up when somebody needed him and would do whatever he could to help.

Dan loved cars and was an avid rodeo fan. The rodeo community held a special place in his heart, and throughout the years he gave much of his time and support to the people and events that were part of it. Some of his happiest times were spent around cars, rodeos, good friends, and good stories.

Those who knew Dan would probably describe him best in much the same way his family does: he was one tough son of a bitch who would do anything for anybody. He lived life his own way, didn't pretend to be somebody he wasn't, and chances were there wasn't a bottle of whiskey too far away.

Beneath that toughness was a man with a big heart. Dan loved his family, valued his friendships, and left his mark on the people fortunate enough to know him.

Dan is survived by his two daughters, his six grandchildren, and his brother, along with extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Edgar O’Conner, and Jennie Lee (Spray) O’Conner.

Dan lived 75 years on his own terms. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories—some that can be told in church and probably a few that can't. He will be remembered for his toughness, his generosity, his love of cars and rodeo, his loyalty to the people he cared about, and that unmistakable way of being Dan.

So, raise a glass, tell a good story, help somebody when they need it, and remember one tough son of a bitch who will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Darlene L. Bates, 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

She was born on December 29, 1943, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Harland and Maybelle (Sprague) Wright. Darlene grew up and attended school in Coffeyville.

On July 6, 1966, she was united in marriage to Harold "Harry" Bates in Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville before moving to Connecticut and New Bedford, Massachusetts where their children were born, before returning to Coffeyville where they raised their family. Her husband preceded her in death on September 24, 2024.

Darlene's spirit shone brightest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found immense joy in simple pleasures, like bowling and playing cards, but the highlight of her day was always the precious time spent with her loved ones.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Sherry Koger; her son, Harold "Jay" Bates, Jr.; her brother, Eugene (Linda) Wright; her sisters, Shirley (Jack) Harris; and Patricia (James "Skip") Crittenden; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harland and Maybelle Wright; husband, Harry Bates; son, Stephen Bates; and brother, Linford Wright.

Following Darlene's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
