September 24, 1937 marked the day that Dee entered this world in Los Angles, California. He was the first of 3 children born to Floyd O. and Geneva B. (Phipps) Roberts. When Dee was in the first grade, his family moved to Coffeyville, where his father found work at the Continental Can Company to be closer to relatives.  He attended Clear Creek Country school until the 8th Grade when he came into town to attend junior high at Roosevelt Middle School. There, he met a young girl named Judith Toney, igniting a courtship that flourished into a loving marriage lasting 68 years.

During Dee's junior high and high school years he was active in football and track. In high school, he was an All-County halfback his senior year and threw the javelin for the track team. He was elected co-captain for both teams as a senior. In addition to his general studies, he was enrolled in drafting and as many auto shop classes that the trade school offered. Dee was an accelerated student in auto repair and spent his summers working at the Dearing Auto Garage honing his skills and doing what he loved, working on cars.

There was always a car in the garage on the weekends that he was fixing for a friend. Hazel V. Pullins (McCarty)

Hazel V. Pullins (McCarty) peacefully went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas.

“Sug’, can I make you something to eat… or would you like a Pepsi?” A phrase that will forever echo in our hearts. Whether it was a morning trip to Goldie’s for donuts or a couple strips of bacon and a pancake, or your favorite pie. If Hazel was around, you were going to be fed—and you were going to feel cared for.

Known to most as Hazel, but to those closest to her, she was Momma, Gma, “Gma Pepsi,” or “Tiny Gma”—titles she treasured far more than her given name. She stood just over four feet tall, but her heart was the size of Texas. To us, she was the embodiment of love, selflessness, and quiet strength. She carried a servant’s heart and often worried about being a burden, though she never was. Small in stature, yet she leaves behind a space that no one else could ever fill.

She preferred to stay behind the scenes, never seeking the spotlight or asking for attention. Her joy was in taking care of others, and her top priority was always making sure no one around her ever went hungry. And oh, could she cook! For those who knew and loved her, just seeing her was the highlight of any day.

Hazel was no socialite—far from it. While Red might have enjoyed the company of many, Hazel preferred the peacefulness of Copan or Hulah Lake, casting a line from the boat or a quiet farm pond, patiently waiting for Crappie. Next to time with her family, those were her happiest moments. And it didn’t matter if you were related by blood or name—if you stepped into her home, you were treated like family. Most importantly, you knew you were loved.

As a lifelong homemaker, Hazel was the glue that held her family together. In her later years, her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandbabies, spanning multiple generations. As she liked to say with a grin, “They’re not spoiled, they just smell that way!” And spoiled they were. We wouldn’t have had it any other way—though it did often require a sugar detox on the ride home or the slip of a four-letter word with that infamous Tiny Gma “tone” usually followed by a sheepish “Whoops,” and a shoulder shrug from her.

Hazel was born on October 10, 1932, in Moline, Kansas, to Thomas and LaVada McCarty, as one of six children. The family moved to Coffeyville when Hazel was young, where she grew up living a simple, meaningful life. She married Ted Graham in Coffeyville and was blessed with a son, Eddie. After they divorced, she later married Harold “Red” Pullins on December 6, 1955. The early years of their marriage were spent in Arizona and California as they built their family. Eventually, they returned to Coffeyville, where Red ran a successful construction company and Hazel lovingly cared for the home and their children.

Hazel is survived by her son Harold “Pepper”Jr. (Tami) Pullins of Ponca City, OK; daughter Debi (Rowel) Goodwin of South Coffeyville, OK; daughter Becky Dill of Prescott, AZ. Stepdaughter Janette Egermeier of Coffeyville, KS. Hazel leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren who will all carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and LaVada McCarty; her five siblings; her husband, Harold “Red” Pullins; two sons, Eddie and Tommy Pullins; her granddaughter Mona Miller; great-granddaughter Wren Goodwin; and great-grandson Jackson Miller.

Funeral Services for Hazel will be held at 1pm on Wednesday May 14th, 2025, at Dearing Christian Church. Graveside to follow at Robbin’s Cemetery, Dearing, KS.

Lucille Frances Christmore

Lucille Frances Christmore, age 98, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, transitioned to her eternal resting place on May 7, 2025, while surrounded in the love of her family.

Born on August 4, 1926, to Andrew Paul and Bessie (McCullam) Adamson in the serene setting of rural Cherryvale, Kansas, Lucille’s journey through life was marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering spirit. She attended grade school in Montgomery County and graduated from Parsons High School in 1945. During her high school years, she worked at Stewart's Pharmacy in Parsons, where she met her beloved husband, Bill, destined to be her lifelong partner. The couple united in marriage on June 18, 1945, in Cherryvale, Kansas, and made their home in Coffeyville, Kansas. In 1960 Bill started selling used cars as a side business and together, they began a lifelong business venture, establishing Christmore's Used Cars in 1964 on 8th Street, a cherished endeavor that continued until their retirement in February 2015.

Lucille found her greatest treasures in her three children—Gail, Joyce, and Danny—who surrounded her with love and joy throughout her life. In her later years, she relished daily moments with them, whether watching game shows, engaging in spirited games of Uno, or sharing cherished memories that echoed the laughter and warmth of family gatherings.

A devoted member of the Grace Fellowship Church, Lucille later transferred her membership to the First Southern Baptist Church on August 25, 2013. Her faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was central to her life, a sentiment she shared with Bill. For Lucille, attending church on Sundays remained a cherished priority, steadfast even in her later years.

Throughout her vibrant life, Lucille was actively engaged in various community and church activities. She was a proud member of TOPS and the CRMC Auxiliary, served as a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered for Vacation Bible School. An avid NASCAR fan not only watching the races on TV she attended The Daytona 500 alongside Bill for 22 years holding the same seat for years. She also participated in a local rummy club, teaching this beloved card game to her great-grandchildren and fostering valuable connections with other young mothers. Lucille took immense joy in attending the events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on during ballgames and dance competitions.

Her passion for baking was evident as she lovingly prepared cakes, cookies, pies, and desserts for numerous community gatherings, notably contributing twice daily throughout an entire month during the flood of 2007. Lucille had a remarkable way of making others feel special, by sending heartfelt cards to convey her thoughts and love. Each Christmas, she transformed ordinary card boxes into beautifully adorned and lined candy boxes, filling them with an array of perfected confections. These delightful creations were not merely sweets; they were gifts of love and care, graciously shared with family and friends. These simple gifts created cherished memories that will linger in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of receiving such heartfelt gifts.

Together, Bill and Lucille instilled the vital lessons of faith, hard work, compassion, and genuine love for others in their children. Beloved for her radiant smile and timeless words of wisdom, Lucille and Bill celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary before his passing in 2016.

Lucille leaves behind her daughters, Gail Stevens and Joyce Ehmke, and son, Danny Christmore—each residing in Coffeyville, Kansas. On May 25, 1985, she was united in marriage to Jeffery “Jeff” Berg in Austin, Texas.
