Red Ravens Home Opener Tomorrow

The Red Ravens look to rebound following a week 1 loss to Iowa Western. Fort Scott comes into town off an upset win over 14th ranked Highland. It's CCC's first home game of the season and Coach Aaron Flores says it'll be a good matchup against the Greyhounds.

The Ravens look to improve their numbers on the ground this week after averaging under one yard a carry. Coach Flores says the team needs to limit mistakes and focus on being more consistent. Kick off is tomorrow at 7:00pm with pregame at 6:30 on KUSN 98.1.

From a Bluestreak to a Bulldog

A late change in coaches as the Neodesha head football coach decided in May it was time to make a change and took the job at Independence High School. The Bulldogs have seen their fair share of struggles going a combined 2-16 the last two years. Head Coach John Black says part of those struggles came from being young which is now a benefit to him.

Coach Black says he has a good group of juniors who have been to all the camps, have stayed late at practices and have been constantly trying to improve. The Bulldogs face El Dorado week 1 who is coming off a 2-7 record last season.

Red Ravens Bitten by Turnover Bug

Red Ravens drop the first game of the season to Iowa Western last night 36-14. Coffeyville was the first to get on the board scoring a touchdown on a 41 yard pass from Aubrey Williams to Isiah Taylor. Unfortunately some turnovers and missed field goals kept CCC from extending that lead in the first half and Iowa Western would tie it up at 7 before half time. The Reivers would seize control of the game in the third quarter scoring 16 points and putting the game out of reach. Statistically both teams were pretty even except in rushing, the Red Ravens had only 47 yards rushing on 50 carries.

Ravens look to get in the win column next week as they return to Veteran Memorial Stadium for the home opener against Fort Scott.
