There was plenty of star power in the Big 12 last season, and it translated to many players being selected to play on Sundays.

Six different programs had a player go in Round 1, with Iowa State's Will McDonald going to the Jets, Texas's Bijan Robinson off to Atlanta, TCU's Quentin Johnston to the Chargers, Texas Tech's Tyree Wilson to the Raiders, Oklahoma's Anton Harrison to the Jaguars, and Kansas State's Felix Anudike-Uzomah to the Chiefs.

Kansas State had many players get drafted in 2023. Corner Julius Brents was a 2nd round pick by the Colts, defensive back Josh Hayes was a 6th round pick to the Buccaneers, and running back Deuce Vaughn was also a 6th rounder to the Dallas Cowboys.

KSU also had quarterback Adrian Martinez sign with the Lions and wide reciever Kade Warner sign with Tampa Bay as undrafted free agents.

The Kansas Jayhawks didn't have anyone drafted for the first time in 3 years, but did have offensive tackle Earl Bostick Jr sign with the Dallas Cowboys, and edge rusher Lonnie Phelps sign with the Cleveland Browns.

The Chiefs capped off a successful 2023 draft with adding depth at numerous positions, including a high level safety.

Safety Chamarri Conner from Virginia Tech was the 4th round selection for Kansas City. He has played safety as well as corner in his collegiate career, as well as been a star on special teams.

In the 5th round, the Chiefs grabbed BJ Thompson, edge rusher from Stephen F. Austin. Not as polished and ready for NFL snaps as Anudike-Uzomah, but a developmental piece that can offer star potential and flashes of brilliance.

The 6th round brought defensive tackle Keondre Coburn from Texas. Coburn is a massive body, weighing in at over 330 pounds. He was a 4 year starter with the Longhorns, and has the size and strength to be an immediate help in the run defense.

And with the final pick of the 2023 draft, Kansas City selected Nic Jones, a cornerback from Ball State. Jones is undersized, which caused his stock to fall slightly, but has displayed great speed and instincts in college. He will need to add weight to be an impact player, but his awareness and quickness will provide nice depth.

The Chiefs added depth during the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NFL Draft, adding a wide receiver and offensive tackle.

Kansas City traded up to pick 55 in order to select Rashee Rice, a wide receiver from Southern Methodist.

Rice is a major deep threat, leading the FBS with 18 catches of 20+ yards in 2022. He also already has chemistry with Patrick Mahomes, having worked out with the MVP quarterback in Texas prior to the draft.

The Chiefs also traded up in Round 3 to select offensive tackle Wanya Morris from Oklahoma.

Morris is still inconsistent with his technique and will require development, but offers a rare combination of size and athleticism on the offensive line. Morris also played with current Chiefs guard Trey Smith.

It was widely considered that the Chiefs may be looking to add a young pass rusher in the 2023 NFL Draft, and they look to a Manhattan star to fill that role.

Felix Anudike-Uzomah was a dominant force in his two seasons as a starter at Kansas State, ending with 19.5 sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss.

At just 21 years old, Anudike-Uzomah has game changing speed and explosiveness for a player of his size. He has room to improve with his run defense, and a second pass rush move, but has an incredibly high ceiling and raw ability.

He will provide the Chiefs with an instant impact, and should serve Kansas City in a similar role to George Karlaftis.

The final uncommitted five-star prospect in the class of 2023 has narrowed his list down to four schools.

Mackenzie Mgbako, a 6'8" forward from Roselle, New Jersey, is deciding between the Kansas Jayhawks, Indiana Hoosiers, Louisville Cardinals, and St. John's Red Storm.

Mgbako requested a release from his signed committment to Duke on April 11, with the return of Kyle Filipowski and Mark Mitchell to the Blue Devils.

The senior forward is ranked the #8 player in the class of 2023, and will visit St. John's this weekend, before visiting KU immediately after. There is no current timetable for his official committment.

A season highlight for the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens, as one of their premier hitters was named KJCCC DII Player of the Week.

Grace Batdorf, a freshman utility player from Oklahoma City, was named the conference's best hitter for Week 11 of the season.

Batdorf had 9 hits in 11 at-bats for an .818 batting average, with five doubles and a home run. The freshman has seven home runs and 13 doubles on the season, with 22 total extra base hits.

Batdorf currently sits second in the KJCCC with a .511 batting average on the season.

The defending world champions have their eyes set on moving up in this week's NFL Draft, and are already making calls to make that a reality.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Chiefs are one of the few teams around the league that have already been active in moving up in Round 1 of the draft. Breer says that Kansas City is looking to add a new skill player, and have been connected to Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers, who worked out with Patrick Mahomes last week, and Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Additional team needs for the Chiefs are depth at offensive tackle, defensive back, and a speed edge rusher for the defensive line.

Breer added that if the Chiefs stay put at pick 31, players to watch for are Tennessee wideout Jalin Hyatt and Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

Following the conclusion of spring workouts and spring games across the conference, the Wildcats and Jayhawks were ranked in the latest edition of preseason power rankings.

Heartland College Sports released a full 14-team power ranking for all teams in the Big 12, including the four new members of the conference, BYU, Cincinnati, UCF, and Houston.

The defending conference champion Kansas State Wildcats were given the top spot, returning their star quarterback and stellar offensive line. KSU also added one of the best transfer running backs available in Treshaun Ward, and maintains a stout defense.

The Kansas Jayhawks are building on one of their brightest years of the 21st century, and came in at 8th in the power rankings. Coach Lance Leipold has completely revived the football program, and with Heisman darkhorse Jalon Daniels returning at quarterback, anything is possible. The defense is questionable, leaving KU with a middle of the pack projection.

Still months away from kickoff with plenty of changes to come, but both Jayhawk and Wildcat football fans have reason to be excited for the fall.

Kansas State is still searching for their first big land in the transfer portal this spring, but they may not have to wait much longer.

Tylor Perry, the reigning Conference USA player of the Year, NIT champion, and former national champion at Coffeyville Community College, was in Manhattan visiting the Wildcats yesterday.

Perry has ties to the KSU program, with assistant coach Jareem Dowling being a former tutor for Tylor when they were both at North Texas. Dowling also helped recruit Perry when he began his career at CCC.

The senior guard would have a great opportunity to become an instant impact player for Jerome Tang, helping replace the production that Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson brought last season. Perry averaged 17 points and 3 rebounds per game, and is a lethal outside shooter dating back to his days under Red Raven coach Jay Herkelman.

Tylor Perry will make his final decision on May 2nd, and is currently deciding between KSU, Texas Tech, Florida, and Ole Miss.

One half of the dynamic duo that helped lead Kansas State to the Elite Eight has declared for the NBA draft.

Forward Keyontae Johnson announced his intentions to pursue professional basketball, and entered his name in the NBA draft, while maintaining his college eligibility. This means that he will not hire an agent, and will be able to return to Kansas State if he chooses.

Johnson has been one of the greatest stories in college basketball, after suffering a medical collapse on the court while at Florida in 2020, and spending the next two years away from basketball.

Johnson averaged 17.4 points per game, as well as 7 rebounds per game, and was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team, and a semi-finalist for National Player of the Year. 

He released a statement on social media to thank KSU, saying "Kansas State I gave you guys my blood, sweat and tears and in return, you gave me the confidence I needed to take this next step. I will be moving on to the next chapter, but I will still need your love, support and most importantly, your prayers."

The KSU star is currently projected as a second round pick in this summer's NBA Draft, according to ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

Jayhawk football looks to continue building off of their best season in 15 years, and had a pair of exciting recruits in Lawrence over the weekend.

Michael Boganowski, the top recruit in the state of Kansas, as well as Wyatt Gilmore, one of the top defensive ends in Minnesota, were both touring the facilities and campus.

Boganowski has been to Lawrence several times in the past year, and has met with the coaches, training staff, and sports performance team. The Junction City recruit will schedule official visits in the near future, and is currently projected to KU by Rivals, over schools such as Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma.

Gilmore is a defensive end that has had a busy month, visiting KU, Kansas State, Iowa, and Oklahoma. Gilmore has premiere athleticism and energy, and has already received nearly 20 D1 offers.

The Jayhawks currently have four commits for the class of 2024, but only one defensive player.

A large number of players from the Big 12 championsip team are either graduated or off to the NFL, and the Kansas State Wildcats will look to a new group of players to emerge as stars.

Coach Chris Klieman spoke to the media for the final time during spring football this week. A pair of safeties were lost to injury late in the season, and Klieman says it allowed for the depth at the position to improve.

One of the toughest tasks for the Wildcats in the 2023-24 season will be replacing the production and skills of Deuce Vaughn. Coach Klieman says entering the season, he envisions the running back room as more of a committee, rather than one true starter.

Kansas State wraps up the spring healthy, and projected to be a Top 3 team in the Big 12 conference this season. They will kick off the season on September 3rd against Southeast Missouri.

A former Kansas Jayhawk five-star recruit has made allegations about the program, and that they knew about the Adidas payment scandal from 2018.

Billy Preston, a former top prospect out of Los Angeles, never played a regular season game for the Jayhawks. He was benched in the first game of his freshman season for missing curfew and skipping class, and was involved in a minor car accident the next day that sparked an NCAA investigation.

Preston was suspended indefinitely after allegations that Adidas made payments to his mother, Nicole Player. Preston was on ESPN's 30 for 30 podcast The Bag Game and says that Kansas knew all about the interactions with Adidas.

Adidas associate T.J. Gassnola testified in 2018 that he made sure KU's coaching staff was unaware of the payments, but Preston says they were the ones who set it up.

Kansas basketball received five Level 1 violations in 2019, the most severe infractions imposed by the NCAA. Both head coach Bill Self and assistant coach Kurtis Townsend were suspended four games each, with the program also issuing self-imposed sanctions.

Five NFL players, including 2022 first round pick Jameson Williams, have been suspended by the league for violating the gambling policy following league investigation.

Three players were suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games; Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus and safety C.J. Moore, as well as Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney. Cephus and Moore were released by the Lions earlier today.

Lions wide receivers Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill have been suspended six games each for mobile betting that occured at the team facility. Williams and Berryhill did not bet on NFL games, according to the league.

League policy states that NFL players and personnel cannot bet on NFL games, the draft or any league=related activities. It's also prohibited to place any bets while at a team facility or on team-related travel.

With the Royals heading west to battle the Los Angeles Angels, the team looks to move north in the standings after a tough homestand.

Kansas City is 4-15 through their first three weeks of the season, including an abysmal 1-12 at home, which ties the 2018 club record for worst home record through 13 games.

Manager Matt Quatraro says that although the start of the season has been frustrating, the team is competing every single night.

The Royals rank 27th in the league in team ERA (5.46), and although walks are down, the team has struggled to piece together consistent outs. Brady Singer, who was the best pitcher on the team last season, has an 8.14 ERA through his first four starts.

Taylor Clarke will get his first start of the season for Kansas City tonight as they face off with the face of Major League Baseball, Shohei Ohtani. Zack Greinke will square off with Tyler Anderson tomorrow, with Jordan Lyles dueling Reid Detmers on Sunday.

With the regular season coming to an end, and plenty to determine regarding the final standings, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens defended home field with a crucial doubleheader win.

The Ravens took care of business with a sweep over the Allen County Red Devils, a team that was ahead of CCC in the standings. 

CCC won Game 1 comfortably by a final score of 9-2. Ricky Hernandez delivered another quality start, surrendering two runs over six innings pitched, while Jack Bell had three hits at the top of the lineup. A pair of 2-run doubles were cashed in by Ryan Ready and Quentin Platt.

Game 2 was much more high leverage, with the Ravens winning 9-8. Ready had three more hits in the second game, as the Ravens had 15 total team hits and rallied from an 8-4 deficit in the eighth inning. The story was Keyan Crawford, who threw five scoreless innings in relief, only surrendering one single hit, with six strikeouts.

The Red Ravens will battle the Red Devils again tomorrow, this time on the road, looking to continue their late season momentum.

The defending Big 12 champions will already have a target on their backs, and it may have gotten even bigger this week.

Kansas State football had a historic year in 2022, winning their first outright Big 12 championship since 2003, along with winning 10 games on the way to a Sugar Bowl berth against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Former wide receiver Kade Warner says he feels like last season was all about elevating the standard in Manhattan.

Star quarterback Will Howard is returning, as will the entirety of the conference's strongest offensive line. While some are spectical about KSU's ability to replicate their success from last year, Warner doesn't have any doubt.

In a recent interview with Big 12 Radio on Sirius XM, Warner says that he feels the Wildcats are going to be the top contender in the conference for years to come.

Warner is hoping to have his name called at the 2023 NFL Draft next week, after posting 60 catches for 522 yards and five touchdowns in his Wildcat career.

The top college basketball player available in the transfer portal is visiting Lawrence this weekend.

Hunter Dickinson, a 7-foot junior, has been one of the most dominant forwards in the nation over the past three seasons at the University of Michigan. The former 4-star prospect made an immediable impact for the Wolverines, winning Big 10 freshman of the year as well as being on the all-conference team.

Dickinson has size and the skill to finish around the rim with both hands, as well as developing a jumpshot from both the mid-range and the 3-point line. He displays strong passing ability for a forward, and served as the leader and captain for Michigan over the past two seasons.

Dickinson is still considering Georgetown, Maryland, Kentucky, Syracuse, Villanova, Virginia, and Duke, among others.

One of the most dominant players in Missouri football history is heading back to place that started it all.

Blaine Gabbert agreed to a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, and will join the defending Super Bowl champions as the new backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes. Former Chiefs backup Chad Henne retired following the Super Bowl victory over the Eagles.

Gabbert is an 11 year veteran, having spent time with the Jaguars, 49ers, Cardinals, and most recently, serving as the backup to Tom Brady with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former 1st round pick was a superstar at Missouri from 2008-10, throwing for nearly 7000 yards and 40 touchdowns in just 31 career games. Gabbert grew up in Ballwin, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis, and became a five-star recruit while at Parkway West High School.

Football may still be a summer away, but the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens have officially announced their 2023 schedule.

The Ravens will open up on the road against Highlands on August 26th. The first home game will be the following weekend against Dodge City.

CCC has a tough first half of the schedule, with four consecutive KJCCC conference games, including three of those matchups on the road. The Ravens end the season with five of their last six games at home.

More than two years after being the star shooting guard on a national champion Red Raven team, Tylor Perry is nearing a decision on where he will conclude his college basketball career.

Fresh off of winning the NIT championship with North Texas, as well as being named Conference USA Player of the Year, Perry has announced his final four schools he is considering in the transfer portal. The programs still in contention are Kansas State, Texas Tech, Florida, and Ole Miss.

During the season, Jay Herkelman spoke on the growth of Perry, as he has gone from an undersized guard from a small town in Oklahoma, to a potential key piece on a Power 5 conference team.

Perry averaged 17.6 points per game while starting all 30 games during the National Championship season at CCC, and averaged 17.3 points per game for North Texas this season, including a career high 35 against San Jose State in November.

One of the brightest stars of the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens has announced his intentions to continue his career at the D1 level.

Jordan Wildy, a 6'9 forward from Rock Hill, SC, officially commited to Lindenwood last week, joining teammate Nathan Johnson as the second Red Raven to join the Lions program.

Wildy was a consistent force for CCC this season, averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game on the way to being named 1st team all KJCCC. Wildy can also spread the floor, shooting 37% from beyond the arc last season.

With Johnson and Wildy both off to D1, Coach Jay Herkelman says that former players and coaches are always welcome back to CCC as part of the Red Raven family.

Wildy will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

The top basketball player in the state of Oklahoma for the class of 2024 has made his decision on where he will play college basketball.

Bartlesville star guard David Castillo had more than 15 offers from prestigious D1 programs, but narrowed down his decision to Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Kansas State. In the end, it was the Wildcats who won the sweepstakes for the five-star guard.

After almost exclusively pulling players from the transfer portal in his first season, Jerome Tang has his first major recruit commit to Manhattan. Castillo says Tang had his attention from the start.

With the pedigree of the Kansas Jayhawks, as well as the home state Oklahoma State Cowboys among the finalists, it's a valid question as to why Kansas State stood out. Castillo says it's because of the way the program preaches faith and guard play.

Castillo will enter his senior season less than 500 points away from 2000 for his career.

A key piece of the Kansas State Wildcat basketball team from last season has entered the transfer portal, and is receiving interest from a number of schools.

Forward Ish Massoud announced last month that he planned on graduating from KSU and playing the final season of his collegiate career elsewhere. Massoud transferred to Kansas State from Wake Forest prior to 2022.

Massoud will visit both New Mexico and Fordham within the next few weeks, and also has received interest from Memphis, Penn State, Cal, Ole Miss, and Seton Hall, among others.

Massoud averaged 5.4 points per game in 15 minutes per game as a key player off the bench for Jerome Tang. He scored a season high 15 points including the game winning shot in the Sweet 16 win over Michigan State.

An exciting 4-star linebacker has announced the Kansas Jayhawks as one of his final four schools.

Zavier Hamilton, an inside linebacker from Fort Walton Beach, FL, announced his top schools as Kansas, South Carolina, Auburn, and Florida State.

Hamilton says the genuine interactions he's had with the coaches and staff, as well as the exciting changes coming to Lawrence with Coach Lance Leipold, has him excited about the opportunity to potentially continue his career at KU.

Hamilton currently has 25 D1 offers, and is ranked the 12th best inside linebacker in the nation in the class of 2024.

The Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs re-signed a key piece of the wide receiver room to a new two year deal.

Justin Watson, entering his sixth season in the NFL, agreed to return to KC, and his agents announced the deal earlier today.

The Chiefs signed Watson last season after he spend the first four years of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he appeared in every game except the AFC Championship. Watson caught 18 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns across both the regular season and postseason.

Kansas City now has Watson, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Richie James, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and Cornell Powell at wide receiver on the active roster.

Coffeyville Community College has a new head coach for the men's soccer program.

Steven Harrison was named the newest head coach at CCC, after serving as head coach for men's and women's soccer at Central Wyoming College. Harrison had great success at CWC, achieving program highs for wins and qualifying for the NJCAA Region 9 postseason for the first time ever.

Harrison has also spent time at Crowder College, Northeast Texas Community College, and Neosho County Community College during his coaching career.

Red Raven men's soccer finished 9-8-1 last season, and finished third in the KJCCC East Division.

Fresh off of a NIT championship, the Kansas Lady Jayhawks have been invited and accepted the opportunity to play in one of the largest tournaments of next season.

The Jayhawks will be one of eight teams to participate in the first ever Cayman Islands Classic, which will take place during the last week of November. The tournament field includes reigning national champion LSU, ACC champion Virginia Tech, UConn, UCLA, and Virginia.

KU will play two opponents during the invitational, with matchups to be announced at a later date. The Jayhawks will return all five starters from the NIT championship team, including All-Big 12 players Zakiyah Franklin, Taiyanna Jackson, and Holly Kersgieter, and one of the highest rated recruits in program history in five-star S'Mya Nichols.

Following one of the most successful athletic years in Kansas State history, a pair of high profile coaches appear to be in the process of getting extensions.

KSU football coach Chris Klieman, as well as men's basketball coach Jerome Tang, both had incredibly successful campaigns. Wildcat football won 10 games and their first Big 12 championship in a decade, while Wildcat basketball made it all the way to the Elite Eight in New York City, after being projected to finish last in the conference in the preseason polls.

Kansas State athletic director Gene Taylor knows that he wants both of these coaches in Manhattan long term, and says they are currently working on new deals to make that a reality.

Both programs are expected to be conference championship contenders, with the talent to potentially make a run at a national title as well.

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens will return to Walter Johnson Park tomorrow afternoon, looking to extend their four game home winning streak.

With only 16 games left in the regular season, each game is especially important to defend your home field. Their opponent, the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas CC, are in the middle of a six game winning streak, including a doubleheader sweep of the Red Ravens yesterday.

The Blue Devils have struggled away from home this season, with a record of just 6-8, however will feature one of the hottest hitters in the KJCCC in Hector Candelas, the reigning player of the week. Candelas hit .571 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in over the week, and leads he conference with a .440 batting average.

With the end of the regular season just a few weeks away, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens have a great opportunity to start a win streak, playing four games at home this week.

The action begins later this afternoon with a doubleheader against Allen County Community College, a team that is currently on a six game losing streak and looking for their first conference win.

On Saturday, the Ravens return to the diamond to battle Hesston College, another program that's had a tough stretch of late, losing ten consecutive games. They will be looking for their first win since a 13-9 victory over a tough Barton Cougars team on March 20th.

Royals right-hander Brad Keller continues to impress in the early season, tossing 6.2 innings with 7 strikeouts in a win over the Texas Rangers.

The Royals avoided the sweep in Arlington, and were able to jump on Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi. Bobby Witt Jr had three hits, including his first triple of the season. Kansas City finished with 14 hits and 10 runs, with the second home run from Vinnie Pasquantino the major swing.

Keller was sharp on the hill, only allowing three hits and one run, with seven strikeouts and only a single walk. Dominant to start his career, Keller has struggled over the past two seasons, but has re-invented himself with a new curveball that has seen positive success and a dominant 2.12 ERA on the young year.

The Royals will have an off day to travel home, and kick off a weekend series with the Atlanta Braves tomorrow.

An elite defender and valuable leader of the 2022-2023 Red Raven basketball team has announced the next chapter of his career.

Nathan Johnson, a sophomore from Kansas City, Kansas, will continue his collegiate career with the Lindenwood Lions, a Division 1 school out of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Johnson was perhaps the strongest and most consistent defender on the Ravens this past season, and a crucial leadership presence as well. The scoring came around in the second half of the season, finishing the year averaging 12.3 points per game on 47% shooting, including a season high 31 against Barton on February 4th.

Lindenwood finished the season 11-21, but surged late in the season on an unlikely run to the conference championship game, finishing just one win shy of the NCAA Tournament.

The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and one of the stars of the Big 12 champion Kansas State Wildcats could be the next star of the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

ESPN Senior Writer Todd McShay projects the Chiefs to select Wildcat defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah with the 31st overall pick in the 2023 draft.

The Chiefs aren't incredibly weak at any particular position, however could use depth and youth at both offensive tackle and pass rusher, something that Anudike-Uzomah has proven to be elite at. In his two seasons as a starter, he racked up 19.5 sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss, and his speed and explosiveness could prove a lethal counterpunch to the power and strength of Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.

There is a strong chance the Chiefs look to boost their pass rushing ability on draft weekend, and signs are pointing towards a nearby star potentially being the answer for the world champions.

The Royals are off to a slow start to the 2023 season, but help could potentially be on the way within the next few weeks.

A pair of players that impressed in spring training are in the final stages of rehab assignments from injury, and expected to join the team within the month.

Left handed pitcher Daniel Lynch looked like a lock for the starting rotation before straining his rotator cuff on March 23rd. Cooper Beebe, a local product from Kansas City, Kansas, was rewarded for an outstanding junior season by being recognized as one of the nation's best heading into his senior campaign.

Beebe received countless awards after playing left guard for the Wildcats in 2022, including being named a First Team All-American, Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, All Big 12 First Team, and finalist for both the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi trophy.

The Royals bats came to life, with eight of the starting nine players recording hits in the game. Brady Singer also impressed in his first start of the season, pitching five innings and only allowing one run with eight strikeouts.

Bobby Witt Jr and MJ Melendez each had multiple hits, with Melendez hitting his first home run of the season as well.

Tang is the first winner of the Naismith Award in Wildcat basketball history, and just the fourth in the history of the Big 12 conference. Tang was chosen for the award over fellow finalists Matt Painter of Purdue, Kelvin Sampson of Houston, and Shaka Smart of Marquette.

Picked to finish last place in the Big 12 in the preseason standings, the Wildcats achieved more than anyone imagined possible, advancing to the Elite Eight with wins over Michigan State, Kansas, and Kentucky, and finishing with a 26-10 overall record.

A storybook final season in Lawrence for Jalen Wilson will be capped off with his jersey being raised to the rafters, joining 32 other KU basketball greats to have their number retired.

Wilson saved his best for last this season, averaging 20.1 points per game as well as 8.3 rebounds on his way to the Julius Erving Award for the best small forward in the nation. Wilson says that this final season with the Jayhawks was everything he could have hoped for.

Along with the Erving Award, Wilson was also Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, as well as a consensus All-American, and 2022 National Champion, before leading KU to the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament this year.

Wilson will forever be in Jayhawk basketball history, joining the likes of Paul Pierce, Danny Manning, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kirk Hinrick with jerseys retired in Lawrence.
